  1. If there were ever two people who have their thumb on the pulse of world affairs it's former Ambassador Michael McFaul and Ian Bremmer. What I would like to comment on is the sanctions. This seems like a useful tool to turn the heat up on belligerent countries, but there is scant evidence that sanctions work in wartime---from what I've read. What I think autocratic leaders respond to is military defeat. Period. What everyone in the world has been criticizing for decades, the Pentagon now shows its true colors and brings us up-to-speed on why weapons have to be upgraded and improved on eternally: there will always be a madman waiting to use guns and bombs on innocent people. What will stop this war is brute military force and because of America and her allies' contribution, thunder guns are starting to wake up the staunchest military hawks in the Kremlin. What needs to be done is to cut a swath to the sea from Mariupol to sever Russia's land bridge. What must happen so to take back Dombas, take back Crimea. Mute the Russian-held strip in Moldava. Do that and Vladimir Putin signs the dotted line. Nothing else.
