  1. The world owes Susan and John and the countless frontline workers who are doing their best to keep us all informed and give us the advice we need to stay clear of the virus. When you hear the head of the Vietnamese Health Service saying their new variant is extremely dangerous, I think we all have to realize that this virus now appears to upgrade its effectiveness with each new mutation. What does this mean to us? Like Susan has pointed out, we must all do whatever we can to avoid falling into the complacency trap. But restrictions have just ended in the European city I live in, and the masks are coming off. Something tells me the Vietnamese variant will be showing its face in our neck of the woods and everyone will be living like the pandemic is over.
