Doesn't the fact that when Newton was elected president of the Science Accademy he immediately burned all of the notes of his deceased colleague-his name escapes me- Robert... who had repeatedly stated to other colleagues at that time, that Newton had stolen some of his ideas. I'm only reporting what I saw and heard in a BBC special on Issac Newton. We know he had 17 artists paint portraits of him. Was it because he undoubtedly knew what he would become in the future or a psychological clue that he had mental health issues? What puzzles me however--and will always make me wonder for that matter--is how much of what he is known for, like calculus for example, could have actually been lifted from the work and ideas of someone else. Remember; he burned the notes of reputed scientist: Who would ever do that unless Newton knew he would be found out?
