Listening to Brian Greene one is in awe of his ability to put complex issues into language everyone can understand. Lex Fridman has evolved into one of the most engaging interviewers because he comes with a great knowledge from his life experience. What I think everyone should reflect on is Dr Jim Tour's explanation of what goes into making the most simple cell. He said among a host of other things that the membrane of a cell has 10 to the 78 billion possibilities but only one for it to function correctly. The carbohydrates on the membrane of the cell are more complex than the DNA and the RNA combined! You must check these facts as I am only saying what I remember from his videocast. When a cell needs to transport materials from one part to another it builds a sort of scaffolding that allows the material to go from one part of the cell to another and then the scaffolding disappears. Every ingredient must come into the cell at a precise time or it carmelizes or turns bad and it won't work. You could not have some ingredients ready and then 3 weeks later add another ingredient... it would not work. What are we talking about here? Something that to have happened by chance in an early Earth? When you hear Jim's lecture it erases all we remember about the 'soup' where life came to be in the distant past. It is amazing what life is, but the simplest cell is like a universe.
