  1. I would just like to say that at about 10:00 into Freddy's excellent videocast, Mr Gurri said that Jack Teixeira probably didn't understand the oath he took the way he did when he signed up. I think it's probably the opposite. Young Jack clearly understood the oath he was taking, but when he found out later how easy it was to access top-secret material, the temptation was too great because releasing the material to his online 'friends' would mean instant recognition i.e., peer adulation. We forget how fragile our egos are at 21 and how flaunting the rules is part of being young. What is absurd is how a newcomer in the intelligence field would ever have been able to look at, let alone download secret files that exposed the inner-workings of the intelligence game. The trouble is that Jack's actions have most likely had a negative effect on agents in the field to put it politely. What this latest gaffe of gaffes shows me is how The Peter Principle is alive and well in every industry, business and government on the planet. People get promoted to positions they have no business being a part of. Jack's superiors should have seen in him a reckless spirit and in the intelligence world that would only spell trouble, but they didn't because they were incompetent. Heads have to roll for this terrible leak of classified documents.
