Before I listen in to UnHerd's Freddie Sayer's interview, what I have heard about the war in Ukraine is the Mariupol, the city taken over by the Russians who destroyed it, will take 30 years to re-build. In the city where I live a new block of flats takes a few years to do---and this is in peacetime. The city of Mariupol was blown to pieces by tanks and artillery and rockets. WW III means destruction with untried weapons systems like tactical nukes which will probably be able to take out a city of 20,000 people with one bomb. Boys and Girls, this is why winning the war in Ukraine is so important, because there is a Commander-in-Chief in Russia, namely President Putin who has repeatedly threatened to use nuclear weapons to win his war in Ukraine. Putin is Britain's Madman Across the Water to quote an Elton John album title from the 70s. But if the nukes start flying the only music, we are going to hear is the last seconds of screeching birds.
