  1. The only thing that will dissuade people from going from a peaceful demonstration to the extremes is to take away their time. All the rioters should lose the rest of the summer at a minimum, and then heavy fines will finish them off. Lastly, all of those people who have been booked will pay much later in their lives, because they now have a criminal record that will never be expunged. In our age of terrorism, the young man who fled a police officer's order to stop could have been someone going to do a terrorist act. Who in their right mind would ever drive away from a policeman ordering them to stop in any country in today's world? Police have to make split decisions; it's a hard call to know when or when not to use force.
