  1. This is a red flag for you in Portland and in America and for us across the world from you and no one can deny it. Now is time to think of a way out of this kind of thing getting out of control. The plain simple truth of the matter is that these people in the street have slipped through the safety net in your country and new legislation needs to be put in place to get them off the streets and into some form of public subsidized housing where they can function normally. It is doable. We have to realize that it is not an easy thing to have millions and millions of people in America and all of them doing well, but that has to be your goal. Consumer capitalism shows its ugly hidden side in this videocast. Capitalism cannot solve one crucial problem: poverty. It must be and will be replaced by a fairer economic system. It is going to take time, but America will once more have its communities living in harmony.

  2. At 1:09 into this shocking videocast, the news present has just said that San Francisco is more dangerous than 98% of American cities. As an overseas viewer, I am appalled at the aspect that American children are in the line of fire so-to-speak. No one is talking about the effects of out-of-control people who have lost all awareness of common decency on young American children seeing unspeakable activities and behavior of adults on their front lawns, or on the sidewalks, or in the city parks of their world heritage cities. No homeless person should be allowed to be sleeping rough or camping in the city limits of any American city. American children who have seen grownups performing obscene and criminal acts I predict will not be able to erase these sordid incidents from their minds in later life. Yes; I am saying that a mentally disturbed person behaving in an anti-social way can and will affect the mental development of a small child. What is the solution? I am an artist and not an expert, but here is how I would solve this problem. First, no camping or rough sleeping in the city limits of any American city. Second, the creation of The Emergency Housing Department in the US Government with a task force which tackles illegal camping etc., in your nation's most beautiful and iconic cities as well as every other village, town and city in America.
