This is a red flag for you in Portland and in America and for us across the world from you and no one can deny it. Now is time to think of a way out of this kind of thing getting out of control. The plain simple truth of the matter is that these people in the street have slipped through the safety net in your country and new legislation needs to be put in place to get them off the streets and into some form of public subsidized housing where they can function normally. It is doable. We have to realize that it is not an easy thing to have millions and millions of people in America and all of them doing well, but that has to be your goal. Consumer capitalism shows its ugly hidden side in this videocast. Capitalism cannot solve one crucial problem: poverty. It must be and will be replaced by a fairer economic system. It is going to take time, but America will once more have its communities living in harmony.
