  1. Dear Mr Papantonio and Ms Merced, you are both experts in your field, so I can only give my opinion on the subject of legalized prostitution. I live in a city in Europe where prostitution is legal. The sex workers pay taxes, have retirement benefits, there are weekly free health checks, and the organised crime element is virtually non-existent. Unfortunately, the moment that an activity is deemed illegal, the mafia takes over and the people involved are exploited. Society must take the responsibility or else organised crime steps in. It's not to defend any of the illicit activities but to make everyone aware that the minute you declare Something illegal, the criminal element steps in, paying no taxes, and causing irreparable harm to the society. Prostitution must be legal.
