The horror story here of course is not the 3 million quid going up in smoke; three young soldiers were blown up and burned alive who signed up to fight for their country and sent into battle by a president who has no idea what a military force should look like, let alone fight like. The Russian people are good people, but they have been tricked into thinking that having an aging dictator call the shots is the best way to run a country. We have nothing to be proud about in our democracies, but at least we get a chance to vote the bum out of office, in Russia; they don't.

That is pure British seeing the Ukranians they have just trained go off to war and wishing their fellow soldiers the best of British luck! Bravo UK! You have just made their day!

This is a war that all of us want to be over tomorrow and every time we hear of a new battle and the loss of staggering amounts of soldiers from the Russian side, we see President Putin more defiant than ever to continue his expansion into the Ukraine at a cost of blood and treasure for his country that will never be able to be replenished or paid back. What is frightening is that we see a very gentlemanly Vladimir Putin in his visits, comfortably strolling through the city with people in Mariupol acting like things are going as planned and now we can be friends again. This does not bode well for the stability of the region nor for the entire world, because there is going to be created this intolerable division between the autocratic nations and the west that will never thaw out for decades and that translates out to mean that we will be pouring even more money in our defense industries and once again laying plans to improve our societies to the side.

One of the saddest discoveries I have seen about the Ukraine war is a behind-the-scenes look into the high Russian command. It is appalling how vehement and war-mongering Medvedev continuously shows himself to be. Everyone thought he was the high-tech guy and pro-western former President of Russia, but no; he backs using nukes if his boss decides it is necessary, he calls the Ukrainian regime every name possible, and he simply displays himself as a puppet in Putin's entourage who resembles more and more a clown than a dignified statesman...
