As an overseas viewer and someone never having served in the military, I think people have to realize that America and her allies have done the best they could in trying to bring some form of stability to the graveyard of empires as it has been called: Afghanistan. What 20 years has done is give the mindset of the Afghan people time to look into their society and and themselves and try to make some kind of a nation they can believe in. Now the Taliban are back with medieval rule, but they can never take back what America and her allies blood and treasure and personal sacrifices have given the wonderful people of Afghanistan: a new perspective on what kind of a life they want to live. The Taliban are already hacking off hands of thieves and stoning adulterers and murderers, but my guess is that this is all being taken in discreetly by the Afghan's. But there's a new line in the sand now, we'll have to see what it is that makes them stand up and fight for their country and throw the bums out. Lastly, Can we ask Lt. General, U.S. Army (Ret.) H.R. McMaster where is the outrage in seeing that inexperienced and young troops were on the front lines of the evacuation effort? No battle-hardened soldiers of any stripe were in the casualties. Higher-ups knew the extreme danger and they put kids out of boot camp as the buffer force. Why? It looks bad from where we are on the other side of the world from you. Where were the experienced soldiers who could smell danger a mile away?
