  1. People who lose control in demonstrating and start looting and burning cars and breaking everything they can to vent their anger have one thing in common: they have time. People who cannot conduct themselves in a peaceful manner must simply be deprived of their time and their portable phones. If there is one thing that will wake somebody up who is in their late teens or early twenties is that their lives are inextricably linked to social media. Just one day without their portable phones, and it will sink in to someone that they never want to be away from their phones again. Imagine people who spend all their waking hours on social media deprived of their phones for the rest of the summer sitting in the slammer! Then you put heavy fines and community service work on them when they get out. They lose big time on the next thing: criminal records that will never be expunged. These three things are a deterent that will make any young person think three times before going on the rampage again.
