I am an inventor. Please excuse me if this idea is far-fetched, but in my mind here is how we solve the world's fresh water dilemma. Every major road and railway system must be set up for a dual purpose. 1. As a road for vehicles or a train track for trains. 2. Under the roads and railways we should put aqueducts in the form of pipes that would be able to transport water to needed areas. Recently, in Ottawa, Canada, flooding was and is so severe it's being called a national disaster. Imagine if that excess water could have been sent to put out the 990 forest fires burning more land than the country of Cuba? We don't have severe storms anymore; we have water bombs with more water falling in an hour than in a year sometimes. Underground pipes that followed major roads could suck up the flood water and send it to reservoirs and places where drought has taken over. In short: we have enough water, but it does not get to the people who need it. Recent flooding in Sydney, Australia saw only 8% of the water was saved---the rest was put in the ocean. In the outback farmers and ranchers are screaming for water, if aqueduct underground systems were in place water could be transported far and near and countries like Lebanon, Omar and others could be saved from extreme drought.
