We can't blame Gerhard Schröder for becoming a German-Russian. He was given a choice job and became friends with President Putin. Once President Putin declares that you are his friend, one can imagine that every possible door is open for you across Russia. Schröder is in political quicksand and he knows it. He has two options: go with Mother Russia where President Putin is waiting for him with open arms or stay in his home country which is a disgruntled Germany that is threatening him with bags of insults and shouts of treason.
