Conflict Zone has produced one of the most revealing and honest interviews of Russia by former deputy foreign minister Andrei Federov in recent memory. He is candid and frank and we see that there is no worry about Russia coming apart. DW's Sarah Kelly delivers a powerful interview with questions that bring solid explanations and detailed answers about the Russian mindset. This very interesting interview comes across as an inside view into the mysterious country where President Putin is still viewed positively by the Russian people in spite of the allegations of war crimes and heavy losses from the Ukraine war. What is apparent from Mr Fedorov's analysis of Putin is that Putin views negotiations as a sign of weakness and that he will never back down from fighting the Ukrainians until Russia wins the war. This of course means things are only going to rachet up until the whole world is involved in stopping the conflict in one way or another.
