We forget that up to a quarter of Ukraine has been occupied by the Russians and getting them to go back to the border is going to be incredibly difficult.

  8. We had a heatwave in 2003 that lasted for all of May and June into July and no one talked of climate change. This is a canicule and it has nothing to do with carbon emissions, these things happen and that's all we should worry about. The world has always be evolved around us and now that we have sensors and every sort of measuring devise known to man, we are going out of our minds thinking it's all coming to an end. We're doing just fine and we'll learn to live with increasing temperatures because we have no choice to do otherwise. In all due respect to former fighter pilot and retired Air-Force Vice-Marshal Sean Bell, my gut instinct tells me that President Zelensky is listening to the foreign advisors, and he knows all they are right in saying that Bakhmut is a possible trap if they don't get out soon and it is not a worthy military objective, but what all of us cannot know is what it is really like on the ground for the Ukrainian forces. We know from day 1 of the invasion that a soldier's life in Ukraine is valued higher than anything else, so President Zelensky would never allow his soldiers to be wounded and killed just for a sake of pride. We have to realize that Zelensky speaks Russian and knows the inside out of Putin's war machine and Putin's psychology as well. No; the Ukrainians are staying put until they know they have done as much damage as they can to their enemy and when they do, the Ukrainians pull out we will see what all the fuss was all about.

I am an artist living 2,000 kilometers from Kiev where the war seems to be getting closer by the day. I see things this way: Prime Minister Modi is someone who the world's leaders should be listening to. Modi treats everyone equally on the world stage and he has to stand as a bridge to Russian President Putin for geopolitical reasons. We must not forget that international politics are a no-man's-land where rules are often disregarded. By being able to speak to Putin's ear, India has resolved the tensions with China on its border. This is worth millions of dollars and thousands of lives. Food is next and India has 1.4 billion people to feed and Russian wheat comes in awful handy on that issue. It's a balancing act that Prime Minister Modi has done extremely well and yes; he's playing both sides against each other and coming out smelling like a rose. What comes across most from Modi is his peaceful calm in the growing international storm brewing all around us. This is how the world's leaders should act. Lastly, Prime Minister Johnson's trip to the besieged Ukrainian President Zelensky was worth a thousand tanks. By walking the streets of Kiev, Johnson showed himself to smiling and grateful Ukrainians that Great Britain will not let them down. There are a list of countries now saying the same thing. For my money, Mariupol is the keystone city of the Ukraine. It must not fall and certainly never get into Russian hands or Kiev will be next. It's an opinion.

I mean, if Mariupol falls, doesn't this give the Russians the upper hand? Cluster bombs from a missile raining down on people waiting to catch a train tells us that the Russians are out to win at any cost and by any means. What we are looking at is an army ten times the size of Ukraine's. Am I write in saying Putin's only move on the chessboard for him to stay in power is bringing the war into neighboring countries? Lastly, can we ask Professor Clarke what he would do if he were the head of the Ukrainian forces?

I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that what many of us in the west cannot understand is how the people in the autocratic regimes seem to become mesmerized by these strongmen who promise the world and demand total obedience. The Chinese want to give even more power to President Xi and we see zero protests.   21. I was dreading to hear this latest update from Professor Clarke. He gets tough questions from the top-notch Skynews presenter, and at times like these we are all frozen in our tracks as a sovereign nation gets destroyed before our eyes. He has just said that it's down to hours before Mariupol falls. The Ukranian forces need to take this as a turning point in the war and go on the offensive from now. The Russians are using seige warfare tactics to win this war and the only way to beat them is on the battlefield. Mariupol must be re-taken and this is not an option. NATO's shield that has been protecting Putin's raiders must come down and NATO forces allowed to join the Ukrainians if there is any hope in winning this war. It's an opinion.

  22. Russia won't stop the war for one good reason: reparations. They will have to pay enormous amounts of money for more than a generation to pay for the damage and loss of life and war crimes that their troops have committed. If they continue and bring other countries into the conflict, they can delay and maybe even avoid having to pay. Russia's ally is China and if we look on the other side of the world, China is sending planes into Taiwanese airspace to get our eyes off the ball in the Ukraine.   23. I am an inventor and I believe I have the solution for supplying fresh water to every village, town, city and reservoir on the planet. We have to make our roads and railways have a dual purpose. Obviously, one for transportation and one for under-road and under-railway aqueducts cum piping. In Ottawa, Canada, heavy flooding meant that thousands of homes, businesses, villages, towns, cities and farmlands were inundated with water from a water bomb event i.e., modern day thunder storm. If there were underground aqueducts, all of that excess water could be sent to put out the 990 forest fires burning across the country and probably also be able to still send water to the American southwest and fill Lade Meade and Lake Powell. Countries like Lebanon and Omar could have water sent via the under-road, under-rail aqueducts. We have to try everything and the thing is that now we have water bombs that dump sometimes up to a year's supply of rain in a few hours. In Sydney, Australia a year or two ago they had a water bomb incident and only 8% of the rain water was able to be saved---the rest was dumped in the sea. Imagine if that water could have been sent Out back to the farmers needing water!

What the excellent Professor Michael Clarke says about the Americans being worried about an F16 bavure--- bavure means error in French---and by this Michael means that an F16 might accidentally fly into Russian airspace on a mission to shoot down glider bombs most likely aimed at blocks of flats or infra-structure. Hold on, do we understand that right? Haven’t the Russians tallied up war crimes that will take a decade to unravel by teams of prosecutors? Haven’t Russian missiles, glide bombs, artillery shells, tank shots and the like blown up civilian structures and infra-structure for months on end? Haven’t there been Ukrainian unarmed soldiers blatantly shot and beheaded and God knows what else? Haven’t all the western countries openly said they want Ukraine to win? Why on Earth then would anyone consider the Ukraine flying anywhere in Russia as being the wrong thing to do? It’s absurd. Let us give them the planes and get on with it.

This statement shows that Putin has no inkling of what his country has signed as international agreements. Professor Kotkin said this: It is mind boggling to hear Vladimir Putin talk about colonies or sovereign countries. We must remember that under international law that was signed by Moscow, all the treaties say that sovereign countries get to choose what alliances sovereign countries belong to. Treaties like the UN Charter was signed by Russia. The 1975 Helsinki agreement was signed by the Soviet Union. The 1990 Charter of Paris for a new Europe was also signed by the Soviet Union. The 1997 NATO Russia Founding Act was equally signed by the Russian Government. All those documents were signed by either the Soviet Regime or the Russian regime, which is the legally recognized international inheritor i.e., successor of the Soviet State. The fact is those agreements are still in place and that they clearly state sovereign countries can freely choose their foreign policy and what alliances they want to join. For the President of Russia to warn western nations not to help the Ukrainians defend themselves is pure hypocrisy and insulting to the free world writ large.

This is where things go off-the-charts in my head. I am an artist living 2,000 kilometers from the city of Kiev and I have no military experience or know anything about international affairs, but what I see daily from the highly-professional and informative videos of their interviews with the experts is that there is unnecessary harm being done to helpless civlians who are leaving their homes with not much more than a toothbrush. We have seen elderly gentlemen weeping at what they have had to endure. Where are the rules of engagement between military powers? How can it be that the world's second superpower and army are behaving so badly? What I believe should be done---and I'm taking a page out of history from Alexander the Great when he encountered a far superior Persian army---what I believe should be done is to drive a wedge to the stell plant in Mariusol. Make a safe passage for the trapped civilians. When that is done drive the wedge to the Sea of Asov; cut the Russian land bridge in two. Send units to attack the eastern and western flanks of the divided Russian forces.

  34. I have no idea how John Sparks and his colleagues are holding up in what must be some of the most difficult reporting he and his SKY Team and other news agencies have ever encountered. The woman whose brother was alive for 15 hours and who couldn't be reached reminds us all that life really exists on a thread and that all of us are here for what the fates decide; in reality our lives could be extinguished in a heartbeat. 20,000 people are now reported dead in Turkey and Syria. Numbers so unbelievable and showing us the world is really the human community.

  35. This is wonderful news as stockpiles of ammo diminish after coming on 600 days of warfare. What we all have to do is double down and get the minefields sorted out fast. This is causing the Ukrainians to go at the front lines in commando units and they burn through tons of ammo just taking a farmhouse. We have to find an excuse or interpret a clause in a special way to at least have NATO bombers used to carpet bomb the hundreds of kilometers of Russian front lines soaked to the gills with landmines. As many as 5 mines have been found in one meter of ground. Next, the trenches are the real deal in getting the Ukrainians to the sea of Azov. It is imperative we help them flush out the trenches. This will free the Ukrainians to be able to move faster and therefore not burn through so much ammo in costly firefights for relatively small gains in territory.

The only thing good I pull out of SL's succinct but jam-packed with intrigue, interview with Sean is that if Putin is nodding to loyalty and discarding competence in his military, there is going to be an implosion of power in the Kremlin in the days to come. This might sound like good news, moreover; we had all better realize that Putin will simply pass the ball to the next dictator-in-waiting if we know our Russian history well and if he passes the baton to someone who knows how to command a military machine better than he did, we may all be going to boot camp before long. No one can predict what is going to happen next, but I've got an idea that perhaps Professor Clarke can mull over. In America, there are 3.5 million weapons in civilain hands. There are vast numbers of AR rifles and automatic weapons of every sort. The Ukrainians want to arm one million soldiers, auxilliary troops, civil servants, and civilians willing to fight for their country. Why not have President Biden put in place an exchange where people can bring in weapons to offer to arm the Ukrainians? The are looking for a solution to end mass shootings, why not bring down the number of home-owned weapons by a million? It would be for a good cause and it might save lives in American cities.

The whole world is clinging to the hope that the war is going belly-up soon and that the bird of peace will fly over the battered nation, but we cannot say that until we see Crimea go back into Ukrainian hands. Sean gives us his analysis that this latest development of taking out crucial infra-structure should have come sooner, but all we can imagine is that everything is taking longer in the Ukrainian counter-offensive because of how complicated it is to be fighting a war against a superpower in the first place. Things that would seem unimportant probably cause delays and more delays. This unbelievable war is something that has changed the Ukrainian society into a nation more united than any other country on the earth. When are the good people of Russia going to wake up and get a new leader?

There was very wealthy man from Britain called Maxwell, I think it was---I am sure it was the father of Ms Maxwell who was Jeffrey Epstein's partner in crime. This is very concerning and it shows a desperation on the part of President Putin that is the most worrying of all the dastardly deeds he has okayed for his troops to commit since the beginning of the invasion of the Ukraine by Russian forces at 5:55 on 24 February 2022.   43. The hospital parking lot was hit and only a few cars were blown up with others destroyed but not forced away from a huge explosion. the crater is a few feet wide. The building's windows look all blown out, but the hospital does not look like it was hit by a projectile. Does that sound like an Israeli missile that did that? The Israelis have weapons that can take down a skyscraper, but we are getting lost in the details when everything should be looking at how to relocate 2.6 million Palestinians to a new life elsewhere.

The attack on Reni should be the wake-up call for every NATO country and its allies. It looks like Putin is getting ready to lay down his hand and put his cards on the table in this 12,000-hour plus poker game whose only limit is what the amount either side's blood and treasure they are willing to commit to the fight. The hard man of the Kremlin undoubtably believes he is going to bluff everyone else into folding their hands and giving up so he can claim the blood-soaked pot and give everyone his now famous ghoulish grin. What is worrying of course is what the Belarusian dictator's hand will be in this crooked game of drones that is evolving beyond anyone's ability to predict the outcome of an invasion that is being defined by the war crimes the Russian military has been committing since 24.02.23. The Ukraine/Russian conflict is a 21st century war that should bring shame to all of us, because our world has seen enough cruelty and senseless killing and violence in the name of empire building. This is Putin's fiasco and it will be forever remembered as a war where civilians once again have borne the brunt of the cowardly attacks on civilian residences and infrastructure. There is too much smoke in the air of the smoldering ruins of grain silos to see clearly what lies ahead, but I think we had all better keep our eye on what President Zelensky's cards are going to be that he lays on the table, because he needs a Royal Flush to win this sordid war game and crush the joker that Putin has become and forever will be...

  46. Vice-Marshal Sean Bell spells it out loud and clear that this war is only growing in importance. His remark how Putin has intervened in the battle of the steel works in Mariupol is interesting. Hitler intervened constantly in the battles his troops were fighting. I remember reading that when the Germans were 30 kilometers from Moscow and could have easily taken the capital city, Hitler stubbornly over-rode his generals and refused to let them go in until they had cleaned up the back country of rebel fighters. As a consequence, it gave the Russians time to re-fortify their city and the Germans were never able to take it. On the other hand, Hitler ordered Paulus who was surrounded in Stalingrad not to surrender. Paulus disobeyed the order and 100,000 German soldiers were captured and marched off to the gulags for the rest of the war. Only 5 thousand troops returned when the war was over. Clearly, Hitler's plan would have not lost all of Paulus' troops. But now; coming back to the war in the Ukraine, what I think needs to be done---and I'm copying what Alexander the Great did in one epic battle against the Persians who outnumbered him---was to drive a wedge between them and come back on their flank with a surprise attack. I'm an artist not a military strategist, but I believe the Ukrainians should drive a wedge though Mariupol and cut the land bridge the Russians are trying to establish in two. It would dash Putin's plan and allow the Ukrainians to mop-up the divided Russian troops. It's an opinion.

What is enlightening about the Ukraine and its fighters is what British commentators have said about them. They are an 'A' list country and this translates out to mean that instructors from the west enjoy working with them because they can suss-out a complex weapons's system in 24 hours. Next up will be providing French Mirages, US f-16s etc. So; if we understand things correctly, the Ukrainian fighter pilots will assimilate the necessary savoir-faire to pilot these flying machines of death and destruction in no time at all...

It's time to move on; former Prime Minister Boris Johnson is an outlier to scores of British People who feel he went too far in his antics, but the UK has become a superpower in all but name because of Johnson's coming to the aid of Ukraine and pledging support in the early days of the Ukraine war. No adversary in the world will ever doubt again a future British Administration's resolve when it gives its word to back a sovereign nation under threat. Whether by military and/or humanitarian means, under Boris Johnson the UK has shown the world that it has no equal on the battlefield, across the seas, or in the air. Johnson will be remembered for his faux pas, a 'Christmas Party' during the pandemic, but I believe history will regard him as the Prime Minister who brought the UK up to superpower status, and no future foe will ever underestimate Great Britain as a world-class fighting force because of Johnson’s heroic and courageous efforts to go to war-torn Kiev and promise to stand behind President Zelensky in Ukraine's fight for its territory.

Beth, I know I am not alone in bringing everyone's memory up-to-date, but if the Ukrainian Air Force is now going to get F-16s, it is in part due to the G7 and NATO and its allies, but it is also due to the first world leader to visit the beleaguered Ukrainian President in the first frightful, early days of the Russian invasion of Ukraine---and that leader was former Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Johnson's courageous lightning visit to Kiev could be summed up with Prime Minister Sunak’s recent words and I paraphrase: “We remain steadfast in our resolve to help Ukraine no matter what it takes.” Former Prime Minister Johnson's visit to a city under attack sent a message to every western leader around the world that Britain was backing President Zelensky and it put Ukraine on the map for most of the people around the world and since Johnson's historic visit, the war in Ukraine has become a cause celeb for the human community.

What is the most appalling thing I think that I have ever heard in my entire life is what the western government agencies are discovering in all the villages, towns and cities that have been liberated from Russian control in the Ukraine. Beyond all belief in what organized bad and wicked people can do to otherwise innocent ordinary, average people, they are discovering that there were torture chambers in every city, town and village they have liberated. Mayors of even the smallest village were marched off and God only knows what has become of them. I hate to use this term but I can only describe it as organized evil. And: the Ukraine has brothers and sisters, uncles and aunts, fathers and mothers, cousins and family relations throughout Russia! What we have to understand is that we are the same people Alexander the Great was encountering on his crusades. Lastly, what is most appalling is that the Russian operatives who commit these heinous crimes against our brothers and sisters in the Ukraine are promoted and given medals and citations for their dirty work.   57. Vice Marshal Sean Bell must be wishing he could be among the first UK planes going out in sorties to defend the beleaguered Mariupol and the coastal region of Ukraine. What is becoming more and more apparent is that the Ukraine is becoming--in the words of General (ret.) Patreaus of the United States---as Ukraine's Alamo. This must not happen in my estimation. Mariupol is the keystone city of the Ukraine, because if it falls then Kiev will be easy prey. I am sure that Vice Marshall Bell agrees with me that we must do everything in our power to ensure that Mariupol remains in Ukrainian hands and that Odessa does not fall under Russian control either. We have to begin accepting that there are two scenarios being drawn up by the Russians. One thing I think we may see is a catastrophic false flag event that Russia blames on Ukraine and then uses weapons of mass destruction. The second thing I think Putin is counting on is for the UK and its allies to join the fighting. Then once more, he can justify using weapons systems that will make conventional arms look tame in comparison. Putin is now an international pariah and that is why this war has now reached a very dangerous point and why all of us should prepare for it coming to our countries

What we all should realize is that the new Prime Minister in Slovakia has obviously been spoon-fed on Russian propaganda, much like Orban in Hungary and what they are doing is playing their cards close their vests. Should Ukraine fall and Russian troops are at Hungary's and Slovakia's borders, their people will get a fair deal---at least in the early days of the aftermath of a Ukrainian defeat, God forbid. President Putin has the manner of a refined gentlemen in his TV presentations, always calm, firm, well-dressed and adamant in his belief that Russia is the one getting the raw end of the deal and yet he has no qualms about attacking every sort of structure or business or residence or apartment complex and now, people out for a meal at a local restaurant. Well, for one thing, no one believes the Kiev would be behind such a feeble attack because if they wanted to, the Ukrainians could have blown up key defense industries with their drones or really caused something much more destructive in nature. This looks like a lame attempt by Russian intelligence services to manufacture a phony attack and then use it as an excuse to rachet up the war against Ukraine.

We are all worried about stepping on Russia's toes by sending weapons certain countries think might provoke Russia into expanding the conflict. Why don't we give the Ukrainians the benefit of the doubt? Aren't we acting like the officer in charge of stopping the school shooter in the Texas primary school massacre? He was the officer in charge and he forbade a dozen deputies from crashing through the door to stop the shooter. He decided to wait until the team came which could unlock the door. A terrible decision that cost over a dozen lives. The Russians are breaking through Ukrainian defenses left and right, let's give them our best weapons and let them decide how to use them. Let's be real: at least 100 soldiers are dying every day from the Ukrainian side because they haven't got the firepower to equal the Russian onslaught. We are fooling ourselves thinking we might make the Russians take the war up a notch if the Ukrainians use long range rockets to knock out military targets. They (the Russians) are going to do it anyway and everyone in the western military operations knows it. President Putin will only back down if the guns of his enemy are bigger and more powerful than his.

It is always an informative report with Sky News and especially with former fighter pilot and now retired Air-Vice-Marshal Sean Bell filling in the blanks that oridinary civilians like me find crucial in understanding the military mindset of the west and its allies and NATO. This videocast (vocast) makes us understand the difficult position the German Chancellor Sholz finds himself in. Sholz has to play musical chairs as Germany has become a multi-dimensional, multi-task leading country and certainly a future mini-superpower. Germany has 300-odd companies and factories in Russia and it wants to find itself on good ground when the Ukraine conflict subsides. Why not have this as a plan B for impasse with the Leopard 2 tanks? Britain delivers the bulk of its Challenger tanks to the Ukraine; the US then re-supplies Britain with Abrams tanks so that there is not a security threat Britain can't deal with in the meantime. It's doable; it's a win/win situation... It's an opinion.

Placing the charges on top of units 3 and 4 according to the esteemed Defense and Security Analyst for SKY News' Michael Clarke could be to make others think it was an artillery strike that hit the two units should they be blown up. Russia could then blame the Ukrainians for causing a nuclear disaster that would only cause a permanent environmental disaster and harm themselves. The trouble with this scorched earth policy is that it could be the proverbial line in the sand as far as igniting the European continent into a war to stop Putin's Russia from destroying Europe and the planet.

We need a peace plan for the Ukraine and Russia war and we need a peace plan for the Israeli-Palestinian-Hamas conflict that makes sense to all sides and provides an off-ramp for putting out the fires of war in Palestine and Ukraine before they are out of control. Former British Senior Military Intelligence and Security Officer, Philip Ingram, is a prime example of the excellence in military analyses SKY NEWS unflinchingly provides its viewers in Britain as well as for viewers like us around the world. Isn't this the time to realize that the Palestinian people need to leave the open-air prison that Gaza has been for them and for their Arab brothers and sisters to get together and come up with a solution? Isn’t the simplest way to do this by expanding the West Bank and adding on 145 square kilometers of land from Jordan, for example? The plain simple truth of the matter is that the 2.6 million Palestinians from Gaza need to be under the same roof so-to-speak so they can rebuild their lives with their West Bank counterparts. The Arab world along with the international community can help in constructing new homes and apartments and the like so that all Palestinians can have their own sovereign country and live a good life. This is doable.

Why on earth can we not supply the Ukraine with at least one bomber? A bomber airplane capable of carpet bombing the myriad of mines planted on Ukrainian soil to thwart the Ukrainian counter-offensive would even up the odds and clear those murder holes? Today, once again, Professor Clarke brilliantly brings to the clear the forward movement of the Ukrainian forces. What is surprising is how calm and business-like President Putin and his Administration appear in their meeting. Surely there is the unmistakable scent of spent gunpowder in the air around the Kremlin these days? And: with Crimea having been breached albeit in a lightning night commando raid, the signs and sounds of an imminent Russian defeat are beginning to be seen and heard all the way to China.

One must never forget that if Ukraine's military forces are second to none on the battlefield, it is because literally tens of thousands of soldiers, tank crews, fighter pilots and helicopter pilots and support crews have been trained by British instructors along with instructors from NATO and its allies. In addition to that, as former fighter pilot Sean Bell will readily acknowledge, the Ukrainians are pulling off the first counter offensive in a major war without air superiority in recent memory and this is against a superpower with a nuclear arsenal that could blow up the world ten times over. No major military power or world-class nation would launch a counter offensive without Warthogs i.e., tank busters, fighter planes, Apache choppers, bombers and everything else that can fly. The Ukrainians are therefore obliged to mount attacks much like the Taliban used to do against the Russians and the Americans and the multiple allied forces. The Ukrainians are stealth fighters, small groups bleed the enemy by nibbling away at them in their superior defense lines. The good news is that cluster bombs are going to prove catastrophic to dug-in Russian troops which are vulnerable to aerial bomblets raining down on them no matter where they hide.
