GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGreat to hear from you Peter on a subject that is not exactly good news for actors, but we are out of a war zone and not talking about surpassing a tipping point for once and it is AI which is once more back on center stage and looking more sinister than ever as it can now go into the creative arts and retire thousands of would-be actors who would have made acting their careers in another era. Before he died, I was listening to Johnny Haliday, the late French superstar, who when asked about AI or the way the music business has become, he said that it was so great to be riding by on his chopper and see a fan, someone walking on the sidewalk carrying one of his records. He said they were real things back then and fantastic creations with album covers all very distinctive which showcased artists and photographers. I like LPs because you can hold them and the 45s had photography or paintings or poetry or lyrics or all of the above. Then: poof; no product no cry. Graphic artists used to have good jobs dreaming up album covers. Well, it still is here, but as we all know the popular song has been so watered-down by technology that now you can go into a studio and do only one take on the vocals, because the sound engineer can correct your voice with a program and make it sound perfectly in tune. Young people love these developments, but I like going in a studio and singing as many times as it takes before I get it right. That does not mean anything other than I am stuck in the past to most musicians in today's world. But getting back to AI and how actors are going to get photocopied without making a dime so-to-speak, shows us that what this way comes is what the iron horse was to Geronimo. Artists and actors may not end up in reservations, but we are going to have to dig deep in our imaginations to become like beavers which are master water managers; we must find the way to stay in our chosen fields no matter what comes out of those AI labs.

Coming in at 2:33 in your excellent videocast and superb analysis of the Russin military mind, may I say what is surely on the minds of people around the world who tune in to your informative and factual videos and that is to say thank you for your work which must encompass countless hours of research and soul-seeking, Peter, we are saddened to see that Ukraine will have to bear more power-outages this coming winter. Clearly, to Russia's ongoing fight in Ukraine, the Ukrainian fighting man has got to be the most dedicated soldier this world has ever produced in the history of civilization. None of us can imagine what it must be like to have a neighboring country, with people that are often related, relentlessly attacking you and your neighbors and villages and towns and cities with the only goal to remove your culture and nation from existence. It is so preposterous that there are actually people in politics in numerous countries who question whether or not their countries should continue providing aid to the Ukraine, a country under siege. Peter, I imagine that when you call it a day and go back home and perhaps have dinner with friends around a blazing fire and enjoying a well-deserved after-dinner drink, how surreal it must seem to know that on the one hand, an entire nation is being threatened for their existential reason to survive and yet here we are, in our comfort zones, planning beautiful trips for tomorrow and living life to the fullest---

  7. Peter, you are a person who I think is admired around the world for your expertise on just about everything that seems to cross your path. We live 2,000 kilometers from Kiev and you have nailed down what's going on there on both sides of the conflict to perfection. I am an artist and an inventor and have no experience in geopolitical affairs, but what I see happening with the ballooning balloon fairy story over on your side of the world is something that I think that should be seen but not made into a lead balloon if you know what I mean. I believe your Secretary of State should have gone to the meeting---the first meeting with a Chinese leader and a Secretary of State---and he definitely should not have cancelled. He should have gone and not said a word about the silly balloons. The Chinese have had eyes in the sky and on the ground in your country and every country for as long as we have been walking on the Earth and you know it. What it looks like from where we sit is bait, and President Biden has taken it hook and sinker----and you too. All of this should be played down, resolved in back channels and not using emotions to describe how you feel about the floating faux spy balloons. This is only my view, but it looks like you are getting played. It was set to happen before the historic visit of the Secretary of State and the Chinese President. This will not happen now and that's why they did it. Sometimes you have to see but not see things and keep it close to the vest. It's my opinion...

Not only that, but do you realize legions of young fans will be going in geopolitics for a career because of you and seeing you with dreamy landscapes behind you will get tens of thousands of couch potatoes off their perches and out into the wild.   9. One thing you do, Peter, is tell it like it is and if I were a German citizen or in politics, I would be taking notes of this very revealing and somewhat frightening videocast. What I believe is that Germany has one resource that will pull it out of its nosedive into oblivion and that is its young people. We must never forget that Germany's young people will never let their country down or let it become unsustainable. We may not see how they are going to do it, but we have to realize that we are never playing with full deck of cards as far as the future is concerned. Our hand may look like a doom-loop in the present world, but we just don't know if we are going to pull a win out of this card game we call life and we never will know because the future is only what comes after today.

What I don't get is why the Chinese haven't simply copied Pfiser or Modernas recipe for vaccines of their own if their own don't work very well. They are masters at being able to duplicate just about everything from fighter jets to space stations to any and all technological innovations developed in the west, why on Earht haven't they simply used the vaccines that (work) as a protype and made a generic model?

I am not an expert---I'm an artist---but from the data that I have painstakingly collected there is a lot of evidence that show the Chinese to be quite adept at assembling, putting together---copying---almost anything they see out there that is copiable and doing a pretty good job of it. The Russians call Chinese jets Russian copies, etc. What everyone of course has everyone scratching their heads about is why the Chinese flubbed up on the vaccine problem. The thing is we are being told what they (our governments) want us to know. This is why I get my news from as many sources as possible and then try to come up with some kind of summary of the facts. However, I stay open to any changes or new information and don't ever say my data is the best.

Could you find the solution for the Palestinian / Israeli conflict and find a homeland for the Kurds before the peak of Mount Everest is snow free? Peter, Peter are you still there? Seriously, could you give us an analysis of the Kurdish people and their militia organization and why they are always under-the-radar of the international community? The Kurdish community has always been a murky issue and we only see Turkey trying to eliminate them and deny them a homeland.

  15. What is running under the floorboards of the international world stagecoach is a very hot war in Ukraine. Something like 60,000 Ukrainians have lost a limb so far if my data is correct, that's more people than the UK has in its military. The average age of soldiers on the front line is something like 45. The 20-year-olds are going to be needed to be called up soon. People are fighting and dying to save their country from the world's second superpower. Even if the missiles Russia buys are shoddy, it means innocent Ukrainians will pay the price in blood and treasure. What you have to keep on the front burner, Peter, are your invaluable updates and excellent analyses of the war in Ukraine. We are nearing two full years of a conflict that must stop.

Thank you for reminding us he is a thug, of Prigozhin's real demeanor and the terrible things he has said about Ukrainians. Sledge hammering a soldier to death for disobeying orders places this man in the underworld in both senses of the term. How quickly one can forget horror stories like that in today's news cycle inferno. What I believe is happening is a Russian doll type operation. We are shown what they want us to see. Forces are at work behind the scenes and my bet is that President Putin is the last doll that gets its cover blown and blown in both senses of the term.

  18. Peter, I hesitate to criticize you because you know your subject inside and out, but I think your videocasts are too important and global for 'f' bombs. Please pay the hefty fine in your e-mail reception box tomorrow that can only be paid with boo-boo coins. Lastly, this may sound trivial, China vetoing metal exports to the USA, but remember the iconic James Cameron film 'Titanic'? Rose's fiancé asked the ship's (designer or architect or engineer?) if the ship could sink. Does anyone remember what he said? He said something like this: "if there are 4 compartments flooded the ship will stay afloat, but there are 5 compartments flooded and it is going to sink. The Titanic has 5 compartments flooded, it will sink in 4 hours." What troubles me Peter is that with China banning these seemingly insignificant metals to America, it does not look so bad, so far. However; maybe you could compare it to one compartment on the Titanic? But how many compartments in the Chinese/American relations have already been 'flooded' already? Let us find a way to stop flooding compartments in Chinese/American relations as soon as possible, because we don't want our future generations to talk about the sinking of America and the end of China because they couldn't get along. The thing is Mr Zeihan, you might be the one person in the world who can help your government find a new bridge of understanding between America and China.

Peter, Your comment that the demographic bomb has been exploded under the Ukrainian people and it can only get worse and even if they somehow win this war this is the end of this country in 30 years they won't exist as a people---I beg to differ. My only caveat is although I am not a historian or sociologist or strategist my gut feeling is that the extent of the cruelty and bombing and destruction and killing done by the Russians will cement these people together like never before. They will rise and rebuild their country and send scouts six ways from Sunday to retrieve the stolen children and enslaved adults and bring them back to Ukraine. We have to remember that the human will is stronger than any military defeat or near anhilation of a people.

There is one problem with all that you have said Peter until 2:04 into your videocast----and it's not that you are wrong---it's because if you are right, President Putin is going to view the coming attraction in his latest theater of war i.e., the Ukraine, as nothing more, nothing less than a failed operation or successful operation. But when the Ukrainian offensive is over---here is what I am getting at, my head is in a fog because they are repairing a bridge and they worked on it all night----what I want to say: I predict from your predictions Peter, that war will spread into continental Europe maybe not to where we live which is 2,000 kilometers from Kiev, but I think this fits in with what you are saying and why Putin cannot, will never and must stay the course for his dream of empire expansion no matter what it takes. We should all be prepared for something in our world to change before the leaves in the fall tumble to the ground...

Peter, the question is, of course, what are we going to do about the human-community-train that is speeding down the tracks and every climate scientist worth his salt is telling it to slow down and take the next left turn to avoid the washed out train tracks straight ahead so-to-speak, but as we all know there is no one in the train conductor's seat on the train. The world is not a unified group of people and that is the only way the environment is going to get the attention it needs. What I have tried to do as a lay person is solve what I believe is the root problem of why tipping points are being surpassed: the capitalist economic system. In my book---and excuse me for plugging it again---but in 'The Treatise of Teknomix' I have created a basic proto-type economic model that needs to be upgraded and tinkered with by experts like you to replace the finance-capitalism that is our economic model today. We need to change the economic system because finance capitalism is based on constantly increasing profits which means exploiting everything under the sun for cash until it no longer exists.

It is appalling that finance capitalism, whether it’s the Chinese state-capitalism model or what all of us in west have running under the floorboards that is unbelievably still the working model of what should be an economic system where everyone gets a fair shake at a decent wage and have the ability to live in a flat or house or apartment etc. It's wrong to not have enough money to eat and live in a home and have money for clothes i.e., get by. Across the channel from us in Great Britain, what is it? 4 or 5 million people, loads of single parents and hardworking, decent people are struggling to exist on the meager pay packets they have, let alone enjoy any sort of good life. We know finance capitalism makes America the powerhouse of just about everything in the world, because the few kings of the coins show us what an individual with more than old movies in his head can do with billions in his or her piggy bank. But we forget about the people that fall through the holes in the safety nets that normally should keep people from becoming tumbling dice coming up snake eyes and coming to what was your home only to see your belongings out on the sidewalk and casting them into despair from losing their only place of refuge and suddenly be living in a tent on a backstreet in LA and the like. Add onto that the clowns who will then refuse to live in the dirt-poor living conditions they are forced to accept and will become pistol-packing madmen who go out and rob, harm and even kill other people just to have money to live.

All I know is that I have made it through the pandemic without getting sick with 2 vaccines and 2 boosters. We know that 83% of the people who have perished were unvaccinated, so even if we were protected for a few months, it might have saved us. I am a singer and one look at what Covid-19 does to somebody's lungs made the choice to take a vaccine an easy one. Firends who refused the vaccine and caught long-Covid are living now with impaired memory, lack of taste and brain fog, excess tiredness...

Peter, by our governments saying that we cannot imbibe in this or that substance i.e., take stimulants, for example, or drugs like cocaine or booze or whatever the chemists come up with next and is of our choice, aren't they really saying this? We judge you so incompetent, so unable to decide for yourself what is good for you or what is bad for you that, we, your elected officials will make those decisions for you and ban the following drugs, substances, liquids... etc. This is music to anyone on the south side of law and order. The Cartels are really the vultures that hang over our societies and all they do is see what the next thing is that's banned and then they go to work supplying it to people who want to take the banned substance. The Cartels get rich; innocent people become addicts and go to jail; neighborhoods become less law-abiding and citizens morph into criminals and become born-again drug dealers to kids who grow up and do the same...

The Russians are smart people and they are a superpower and as much as we don't like the fact that, one man holds all the cards. The Russian system has loads of options for fighting a war and they don't hesitate on doing whatever it takes to bring the enemy to its knees. Putin also runs the media, so; whatever comes out of Russia is sanitized non-news. What we can see is that in spite of catastrophic losses, the Russians seem to absorb it without effort. Is it safe to say that they are not going to give up on Ukraine---whatever it takes? This is why your analyses are so important and informative, Peter, because the Ukrainians are the ones who are getting shelled and blown up every day and they are the people who go to sleep each night wondering if tomorrow will ever come. We can only imagine how that must wear down even the most fatalistic person. So; we are waiting now for the mud to dry and to welcome summer; then the tanks roll in and the bloodiest offensive since WW II becomes a strong probability... Slava Ukraini!

Tell me our planet and cities like New York (those super crappy ugly multi-story eye sores behind you make for the worst skyline in the world) are in financial quicksand as far as capitalism is concerned. I am repeating myself and yes, I have written a book about an alternative economic model to replace the aging scandalous money laundromat the capitalism has become, but what keeps coming at us in these reports is that there is no more a bottom to our financial woes. The world's showplace has now become a desolate endless emptying city of high rents and wages that don't cover basic needs for most of the working class people and where even the upscale designer-clothes-wearers who can afford it are looking for somewhere else to go that is anywhere but downtown New York City. Wage inequality is cruel in the Big Apple because everybody has got to live nearby. Only foreigners so rich they can buy Picasso's dump their dough into penthouses they think will only increase in value, but whom never come to live in their lonely glass and steel towers that rise so high in the sky that they can see tomorrow.

  33. Peter, with seemingly insurmountable odds against them, you paint a picture of a war that could only be fought and won by people defending their country. Outnumbered, outgunned, out of their minds' Russian recruits are going to be coming at the Ukrainians en masse. What the Ukrainians need they've got though, because to win you've got to believe in yourself and what you're fighting for and see yourself a winner and even smell and taste victory; Moreover, I would bet that every soldier fighting for Ukraine is thinking of one thing; he or she has one thing on a constant loop in their minds: pushing the Russians out of their country, getting this war over asap and being able to return home to one's loved ones. Your country's and NATO'S help is giving them the strength and stamina they needsto fight on another day. In Bakhmut, there have been videos showing front-line soldiers encountering up to 10 waves of infantry attacking in one day and in between the waves of infantry, they are getting pounded by intermittent artillery barrages! I have never been in the military---and I am just guessing----but I can imagine that successfully decimating one wave of attackers would be physically draining. I have read that the outcome of wars can never be predicted. So; round two is coming up and all is tense on the Eastern front!

I think we should all prepare for an unknown unknown if you ask me. President Putin has a lot of advisers and most notably President Xi of China would like to have Putin's farewell go down as something he could live with. This would mean of course that some kind of battlefield victory has to be Putin's parting shot. One has to put oneself in Putin's shoes; for 22 years he has had everyone from dukes and duchesses to kings and queens and chancellors and presidents and prime ministers bow to his most outrageous wishes. What Putin will want if he has to go is for the whole world to know that Russia is strong and him too...

You're right of course and I think Merkel accepted the Russian gas deal only because it was the time when nuclear power and coal suddenly became a bad thing; the environmentalists were a force to be reckoned with and Russia seemed sane. What it now looks like to me is that Russia is going for the juglar in hitting the Ukraine's nuclear plants. My guess is they will hit a reactor and make it a dirty bomb and blame the Ukrainians and claim plausible denial. A big war is coming...

The mere fact that this subject is being dragged out of the doldrums of cold war paraphernalia and dusted off so-to-speak, and having the illustrious and magna cum laude geopolitical guru of our times, Peter Zeihan, giving us his expert views and well-researched estimates on the combat capability and readiness of the US to take on its two major adversaries i.e., Russia and China, says volumes on the real likelihood that America is one day going to be bifurcating on a Chinese-Russian war trajectory in the not too distant future in spite of Peter's insistence to the contrary. Yuval Harari says that our money system is a story that we all believe is true and that it is the biggest story in the world. If we all believe the American dollar is the world's reserve currency and that it is worth a certain amount of goods or equal to a fixed amount of euros or yuan etc., then it will stay in circulation. Gold is where the gold bugs go and you can't blame someone investing in the yellow metal that has been considered money for 5 thousand years or more. So; what am I saying here? That's a good question, because I have sort of forgot---kidding again. Seriously, I have invented an economic system that gets more laughs than nods of approval to be quite honest, but I have tried to come up with an economic model that with a lot of tweaking could be something that fits the 2020s. It is called teknomix. My book, which is selling like ten thousand-pound bags of cement, is called The Treatise of Teknomix. Peter, it would be great to hear your thoughts on the matter, but I believe it's time to say goodbye capitalism, to gold, to fiat currencies and re-think what our current economic system is doing to global society. For my money---pun intended---they all translate out to be feudalism on steroids. My system is a seed that perhaps has the ability to grow into an economic model that puts everyone on the same page.

  44. Thank you Peter for a very comprehensive update and analysis of the Russian demographic dilemma that is on its doorstep. What we know is that the Ukrainians are still shaping and have used only 20% of their forces. President Putin's Generals are going to make the Pregozhin problem disappear by bringing out of their hat something that will probably turn the Ukraine into molten lava. We have to realize that all this talk about tactical nukes has been to prepare us for exactly that. Russians laugh at being charged for war crimes because they know Putin has their backs. Putin is working on turning the Prigozhin uprising to his advantage by showing the Russian people how taking back Ukraine is the only way to restore order.

  48. here is one caveat to everything you have said Peter, and what I would interject in the discussion is what is going to be happening in 120 days from now. The Ukrainians will have mounted their long-awaited offensive and assault on cutting off the Russian land-bridge and going all out to take Putin's jewel: Crimea. The bridge to Crimea will surely have been blown apart. Putin is going to be surrounded by his entourage and his top generals who are going to say that there is no way that they can keep Crimea and that they must retreat or lose all. This is when I believe we should all be prepared for the first tactical nuclear missile to be launched from Belarus at Crimea when sufficient numbers of Russian soldiers and citizens have been evacuated. It will mean a Chernobyl Crimea for all time to come, but Putin will have won in his mind. Let us not forget the old military adage: imagine what your enemy thinks you are going to do next and then do the opposite. Why would PUtin bluff about setting up a nuclear strike and fool us all and launch a nuke from Belarus? Because he could blame it on Lukashenko making a mistake and thereby excluding Russia from any blame in the future...

  49. Peter, isn't this really a red flag moment for the world with President Xi skipping BRICS and now the G-20 summit? I don't know about you, but something does not line up the ducks in my pond. Uh-uh; nope, for what it's worth, this is what I think: it is a major troubled waters incident and it is going to lead to some sort of Chinagate. It's just a guess, but I believe we had all better be on the lookout for more than spy balloons careening around the world any time soon, because whatever is coming out of the gates this time from the mysterious middle kingdom is something that could very well make the Ukraine war look minor in comparison. Could this be Xi's moment to help his beleaguered friend in Russia and go for broke on his Taiwan invasion plans?

What is apparent is that the Ukrainian war is a jigsaw puzzle inside of a centrifuge which is turning round and round inside of a cement truck that has run out of diesel fuel and when the cement hardens the world will have a fractured picture of the new Ukraine that will emerge after a war that resembles nothing of which anyone has ever imagined before---except maybe Peter Zeihan!
