  1. Peter, with seemingly insurmountable odds against them, you paint a picture of a war that could only be fought and won by people defending their country. Outnumbered, outgunned, out of their minds' Russian recruits are going to be coming at the Ukrainians en masse. What the Ukrainians need they've got though, because to win you've got to believe in yourself and what you're fighting for and see yourself a winner and even smell and taste victory; Moreover, I would bet that every soldier fighting for Ukraine is thinking of one thing; he or she has one thing on a constant loop in their minds: pushing the Russians out of their country, getting this war over asap and being able to return home to one's loved ones. Your country's and NATO'S help is giving them the strength and stamina they needsto fight on another day. In Bakhmut, there have been videos showing front-line soldiers encountering up to 10 waves of infantry attacking in one day and in between the waves of infantry, they are getting pounded by intermittent artillery barrages! I have never been in the military---and I am just guessing----but I can imagine that successfully decimating one wave of attackers would be physically draining. I have read that the outcome of wars can never be predicted. So; round two is coming up and all is tense on the Eastern front!
