  2. You do not sound like a jerk, you sound like a concerned citizen. This is why stuff like this happens…everyone else is like “it ain’t my job” until it’s too late. The fact that the owner showed up and “didn’t know” and it’d been there for a month? C’mon! Whether or not the owner knew is irrelevant, it’s his boat and HE alone is responsible for it and should be billed for the damages. It doesn’t take a month to look at the registration on a boat and find the owner. Period.
