Another idea for an off grid fridge—find a broken upright freezer (someone is always wanting the hauled off) gut it and add a layer of inch and a half rigid foam to the outside. Saves a lot of work getting a good door seal, recycles an unwanted item and the best part is they’re usually free.

I don’t know if I was ever young enough to haul a cast iron stove through terrain like that. Good on ya.

It’s amazing that it’s been only a year and you’re already above 15k subscribers. The future looks bright, best wishes to everyone.

I found your channel by chance yesterday and watched all your videos. Looks like all your hard work is paying off, the cabin is coming along nicely. Hopefully your old cabin holds up through the the winter as temp storage— she’s looking pretty rickety. At least you can keep some dry firewood. Seems like the definition of cord varies slightly depending on location. I’ve always used 4 foot wide by 4 foot high by 8 foot long (128 cubic feet) as a measurement for a cord of firewood. So by my estimate I’d say you have about 1 cord stacked up in your storage shed and maybe just shy of a half cord in front of the cabin. Stay warm and I look forward to future videos.

I’d put some kind of clear protectant on the cabin—you can always go darker. The video of you dragging that stove in was the one that got me watching your channel. Stay warm. PS it amazes me how fast you got to 10k subs that’s awesome.

Never have understood why more people don’t use a block and tackle nice to have a young back I guess. PS: The devil’s name is Lucifer. I know Luther he’s a pretty nice guy. 🤓

When you are at the cabin for an extended time what do you do about your vehicle battery? Do you bring it in with you or hike out every couple of days to run it and keep the battery fresh? How is the bathroom build going by the way?

I gotta say this didn’t seem to suck as bad as the first stove you brought in, you’re an animal. A block and tackle set would be nice for a lot of things out there, sooner or later mind over matter is gonna matter if you know what I mean. Love the camera tripod.

You should clean up the mushrooming on those wedges before a hunk of steal comes of of one of them and catches you in the eye. Bed looks good especially considering the materials you started with.

NorthWest Firefighter just over the border from SW Ontario I believe.

Remote Log Wilderness Cabin kinda confused me 😂. Glad the stove worked out good, that was a hell of a lot of work get’ n er up there. I don’t think I’d add doors to the kitchen cabinets, just makes it harder to find stuff. Just add more shelves so you don’t have to search for things. Good luck man things are looking good.

@lolcatsravenight 🤣

Or stand it on end next to the stove and tip them both over at the same time. Also slide the sled right up to the door to tip it out.
2
Wow! Your subscribers have jumped from a few hundred to almost 10k in like two months, awesome!

I was one of your first subscribers and it was that video of you hauling your first stove in that definitely won my respect. Maybe rig something up from a couple of old bicycle wheels and make a 2x4 frame to haul the next stove in. The bike wheels are large enough to roll over rough terrain and the 2x4s can reused for something else once you get there. Good luck and stay safe.
1
John Thompson yeah I’ve seen the northwoodsman1 idea with the bike frames however I was thinking that maybe something a little less bulky for Kyles situation—he’s got a rougher terrain to cover and two wheels might be a bit more maneuverable. Kyle maybe able to adapt the northwoodsmans idea though.

How does the shower drain?
1
Hamilton Rodgers yes I get that but he’s dealing with below zero temps for extended periods is why I asked.
1
Tree Climber yeah I think he knows that, did you see the work he put in building this cabin and stripping logs?
1
Pretty cool score. Screened in from porch, a three sided firewood storage building and a workshop storage shed would be my choices.

I didn’t know they still made Hamms...that was trip down nostalgia lane for me. What’s your plan for the insulation in the roof? Can it go against the underside of the steel? Looking good.
1
KYLES CABIN that will probably only be a problem if you were to tow it very far at road speed. Obviously the suspension can only handle so much weight but I assume you’ll have some way to level it once it’s parked. Cool project I look forward to watching the rest of the build.
1
I don’t think he can, he’s surrounded by National park or something. He said in some of his first videos that he needed a permit to cut the trail back to the cabin.
1
Roof looks great man. No coffee would be a no go for me. I’d have dumped the metal in the parking area and headed back to town. Peace.

Can I ask why you pack all that water in rather than use a filtration device?
1
Holy crap your subscriber count has really jumped up there! Good for you. Did the old cabin collapse or is it just buried in snow?
