  1. Sadly he was three years late. Gustav Whitehead flew three years earlier and he had a lawyer, reporter and about twenty other witnesses. They later recounted the twenty or so flights he undertook before the Wright brothers unconfirmed flight. The Wright brother only supplied evidence of their first flight three years after it and this clearly showed the second Wright flyer. Sadly their first attempt in 1903 was not successful. All reproductions of whiteheads plane have flown but none of the reproductions of the first Wright flyer have had successful flights, the second one has achieved many flights.
