Dull headed materialists don't understand it because they live in their bewildered minds, in their political fantasies and their dark desires. Their afterlives can be in the temporary body of a stray dog, a cockroach or a worm where they can continue their illusions. Indeed, God is very merciful.

@silvermoon1936 As long as we have worldy desires, desires for things non-permanent, we live in the world of illusions. So God facilitates the world of our wordly desires since things non-permanent, aka idols, exist only in the material mind. Having arrived in the human form of body we can disconnect from that world in terms of identifying with it by linking up with Krishna, the Unlimited Supreme Person within the scientific reality of the time/space/movement constant. And reach total perfection because of it. The Bhagavad-Gita As It Is from the old, eternal India explains it extensively.
