That's a feature, not a bug. Journalists should be checking each other's work to make sure they are not skipping steps, like reaching out to all parties. They should check that their conclusions are supported by the evidence they cite. They should check that they're not just regurgitating PR from a single party. A perfect example of unchecked pseudo-journalism is the Twitter files.
