Diablo Canyon provided 5x the electricity to CA as the Hoover Dam did. Not saying it was a good idea to close it, but the scale of these two plants are not even close.
8
You could search "Colorado River Compact" and find out why CA gets its share in less than 30 seconds. Also agricultural water use dwarfs residential water use in CA.
4
Good one, commie.
4
Or we could just crank up water prices. Nobody wants to hear that though.
3
Sure but it's going to cost everyone big $$.
3
@lindabradford9591 Cali only gets about 2x the water as Arizona, despite 5x the population.
3
Sun, no snow, and air conditioning
3
@haroldenglish943 How do you believe all of these things simultaneously? 😂
2
Eat the socialist And because they boost the earnings of Americans. And because they pay more taxes than they consume in government services. And because they lower crime rates.
2
JakeT StateFarm Financially feasible in those countries is still way more expensive than what Americans out west are used to paying today.
2
Why would you say something that's proven wrong with a 10 second Google search?
2
What state do you think this dam is in? What state do you think uses all of the water from the river?
2
Well if the states are fucking it up this hard...
2
@alani2071 I guess you're welcome to have that feeling. Why are you bringing up communism all of a sudden?
2
Rik Michael the type of farming that uses resources most efficiently?
2
Or just increase the price of water to the point that people don't want to shell out the $ for long showers.
2
@getchasome6230 Exactly! they're paying for the social security and medicare of American citizens without being able to cash out. I'm glad you have this level of appreciation for illegals bolstering American lifestyles!
2
@getchasome6230 First of all, the same SSN can't get two tax refunds. How stupid do you think the IRS is? Secondly, you don't need an SSN to work for cash under the table. You need to learn the facts on this topic before spouting off so confidently.
2
@getchasome6230 I got owned by revealing that you have a 10-year old's knowledge of politics and taxes? OK dude. Cope however you need to. Try not to overdose.
2
@getchasome6230 Your argument is that the illegals aren't hurting anybody, and instead are bolstering the tax base of the US? This is your idea of a bad thing? You're actually insane. Who gave you access to a computer?
2
Where is the new water going to come from?
2
No. That's not how dams work.
1
CA gets to decide what to do with CA's share of the water.
1
The fact that water is so cheap is the reason that it's so depleted. Prices for water need to be raised significantly.
1
@StonedAF101 Ok?
1
@elultimo102 Apparently they’re not raising rates enough if water reserves are still consistently going down.
1
Six other states agreed to let CA get its share 100 years ago.
1
It still is used primarily for farming.
1
@ChaseWilson27 Right, the fact is obviously contradicting what you said.
1
You can literally google "Hoover Dam 1965" and see pictures of water levels dozens of feet higher.
1
@ChaseWilson27 Oh, I didn’t realize you were going to pull numbers out of your ass and say they came from somewhere. You win. The 70-plus foot drop documented by USBR is fake news!
1
@dmannevada5981 That's part of the problem I suppose.
1
@michael boultinghouse I hope we can all learn from your long tenture in this role. You commies always have the right answers.
1
Colorado doesn't exclusively own the rain that goes into the basin, dumbfuck.
1
Take the bus if you aren't allowed to drive.
1
@can_hauler In an entire year, US nuclear plants consume about 1/400th of annual demand for water. Even if we assume that all of that is water vapor, that's barely even a dent.
1
7 months ago the dam was filled to the top!
1
@alani2071 Which mainstream democrats are trying to pass communist policies?
1
States could easily increase water prices if they had the political will. Sadly, no voter wants to hear that water isn't dirt cheap.
1
pools don't use a lot of water on a day to day basis. it's the same water day in and day out.
1
Well yeah , they use the least resources per capita. You were trying to be sarcastic but you actually stumbled into being correct.
1
California, famous for being the only place that gets water from the Colorado River.
1
And food
1
And Arizona.
1
Where should we make up for the lost food production?
1
Easier said than done.
1
@getchasome6230 Yeah I'm getting owned every time you contradict yourself. Super owned. You sure showed me how they are committing tax fraud and not committing tax fraud at the exact same time!
1
@richardschipper5989 who asked if they were;?
1
This but unironically.
1
A lot of this goes to agriculture.
