  43. At this point I'm convinced that US consumer confidence is almost entirely explained by whether or not gas prices are over $3.50/gal. Wages don't matter. Unemployment doesn't matter. Cost of services doesn't matter. People see $4/gal and that $30/month change in a single expense makes people go ape shit.
