Here's just a few of the contradictory things this government wants you to believe: - Crashing out intentionally is how we get a better deal - and yet we don't actually need or want that deal at all. - The EU are hardline obstructionists who will never negotiate - and yet they're on the cusp of total capitulation, any day now. - The economy is doing just fine and everything is great - and yet we're in a state of emergency that only Brexit can solve. - We categorically don't want an election - and yet we're going to go on a campaign-style tour around the country. - Referendums are the purest most sacred form of democratic expression - which is why we absolutely cannot have another one. - Businesses and the economy are crying out for Brexit - except for all the ones that don't (which can go f--- themselves). - We love Europe and need Europeans to keep our NHS running - but we need to stop all the Europeans from taking our jobs. - The driving principle of Brexit is national self-determination - which is why we need to agree to whatever terms the Americans give us. I'm only just scratching the surface, but the whole argument supporting Brexit is made of sheer nonsense. Brexiters, particularly Johnson, have it both ways on so many issues. How do people not see it for the scam that it is?

Reading these comments, it boggles, depresses and appals me to see how many people are either in straight-up denial of what's happening, or are steeped in ignorance about the basics of how wildfires start or why droughts are a problem. Please, as a favour to humanity, if you're about to ask a daft question on the internet, or come out with some daft conspiracy theory about weathermen lying for no readily apparent reason, here's a suggestion: spend five minutes using Google.   22. The problem with these dictators is they have no retirement plan - there's no way out for a man who's constructed an entire state around himself. If he leaves power, he's as good as dead. If he's lucky he might find refuge in a foreign country, but more often than not, being unseated is as good as being hauled up in front of a firing squad. Lukashenko knows this, but as someone who never really had to fight to hold onto power before now, he overplayed his hand. He rigged the election so haphazardly, so obviously, that he's completely destroyed his legitimacy. Belarus will be free - he can't kill 80% of his own people. There are so many protestors, that even if he tries to unleash the army on them, those soldiers will have to know they're firing on their own friends and family. TL/DR: Lukashenko is one massive dummy.

Dominic Cummings is an unserious, opinionated, entitled arsehole who treats ordinary people like chumps. He doesn't care about the country, and he doesn't show the office he's been elevated to the respect it deserves. He'd be unfit to serve burgers at a McDonald's - let alone working in Number 10. He travelled cross-country during the height of the lockdown while displaying symptoms of Covid. Professor Ferguson was expected to step down, for less. Why should Cummings be any different? Reminder for all the angry men who are going to belt their way into this comment section to teach the darned no-good feminists their place - this is a prison - i.e. a place where your daily routine is entirely managed for you by a prison bureaucracy you have no control over and where, most critically, you are separated from everybody you know and love, for a period of time that you have no control over. Perhaps instead of arguing that all women should have it as rough as the worst-treated men, real mens-rights advocates should be fighting to improve conditions across the board in Britain's prison system, and addressing the root causes for why men are disproportionately more likely to commit crimes in the first place (drugs abuse, poverty etc.) - just a thought. :)
