Sadly, some aspects of historical pandemics can be counted on to repeat like clockwork: - the outbreak of conspiracy theories targeting ethnic minorities - some people trying to defy the plague to make a profit by doing business while others hunker down - some people panic buying years' worth of provisions, and then going to ground until it's over - some people getting together to have plague parties and get infected faster - unnecessarily draconian measures to punish infected people in some places - leaders passing the blame onto each other while society burns in others - good, factual news sources being drowned out by the hyperbolic gutter press
