I think the main lesson Sweden has to teach is very simple: it's easy for a population to follow government guidelines if they're simple and don't keep changing all the dang time.

@theresenydahl9531 Michael sounds like a troll in what way? He wrote a thoughtful and sensitive post in reply to you, explaining his perspective, including quite a bit of information. I for one found it interesting.

@theresenydahl9531 If this pandemic has taught me anything, I think each of us has a different experience of it. It's possible to get completely contrasting pictures from the same place, just by going there at different times of day. I don't think any of us are in a particularly good place to judge whether our countries have been a success story or not - we'll only be able to make that call in the further future, after it's all over and the dust has settled. Until then, I think it's important not to lose sight of the difference between trolls (of which there are many), and people we merely have vigorous disagreements with. I'm in no position to say whether you OR Michael are correct, that's just my two pence. I will definitely say that for right now, I'm willing to take lessons from nearly any foreign government, because ours has done such an appalling job with the worst death rate in Europe on its record.

@supportbd7142 The UK Government IS entirely responsible for creating unclear, unscientific and inconsistent guidelines. They set up a situation where any reasonable health expert could've warned them it would lead to a spike - they PAID people to go out and eat socially. Don't blame people for not understanding this constantly fluctuating advice.

Quarantine by the sea Fully agree, and this is why I was careful not to praise the lack of lockdown, in my original post - it's not clear to me that we should be drawing too many conclusions from the Swedish model - except that consistency beats out constant adjustments.

Randomly In accurate I'll allow that actually. :(
