See this is what I don't understand about you lot - you're afraid about tyrannical government overreach, even though it's your favourite and most beloved government that would be entrusted with using these powers. In your eyes, they can do no wrong, so what possible harm can this bill do to you? If it was a leftwing government in charge, I could at least understand not wanting to empower the other side. But this makes literally zero sense. You're saying you don't trust your side!

Except of course, the economies of countries that haven't locked down have also tanked, so that cruel and sadistic argument doesn't make sense, even on its own terms. D'oh!

"Your side" in this case is the Trump-Brexit continuum, as clearly denoted by your dogwhistle avatar. If "government overreach" is what you perceive to have been the biggest problem in your early life, having apparently grown up in the midst of the Troubles and terrorist attacks on both sides, then you have a severe case of tunnel vision and I can't help you. Granted, you might tell me you don't support Boris Johnson's government here in the UK - but you're exactly the sort of person who typically does.
