Shutting down Parliament because you can't win a vote? What paragons of democratic virtue you Brexiteers have turned out to be, eh.

Judging by the number of replies to my comment, I'm going to go ahead and guess that either I struck a nerve, or the Kremlin troll farms are busy tonight. In either case, I'm glad I can, in my own small, insignificant way, make a fascist's day just a little bit worse.

And still the drivel keeps flowing. So much time wasted on little old me.

It genuinely alarms me to see the comments coming from the Lunatic-Leave front. Blowing up parliament? Asking the Queen to shut it down completely? All politicians opposed to you are "traitors"? A conspiracy of media and the wealthy to deny the ordinary people of the country their vote? The sacred power of the executive to legislate without Parliament? Foreigners at the borders, baying to rape our women and take our jobs? I won't say you're like fascists. You are fascists. What you want is to have unilateral power placed in the hands of the Prime Minister, to govern and make law without democratic consent. You want to crush any opposition voices, both in the media and online. You want to expel foreigners without mercy, and you don't care how many laws need to be broken, to get your own way. To call you fascist then is not a slur. It's simply the most accurate adjective I can think of.

@C R Ah yes, "it's not really a prorogation because Parliament was going to be shut for that amount of time during party conference season!" That's a nice and easy one to debunk: The recess Parliament usually has for Party Conference season is optional, and under the circumstances, Parliament was expected to cancel that recess. They cannot vote against a prorogation, however. So yes, Boris Johnson has denied Parliament 5 weeks of negotiation time, in a move which is wholly unprecedented. (The longest previous prorogation was days, not weeks)

@C R I'm clearly wasting my time. There isn't any source I can cite that you won't consider "biased" and "inaccurate". There's no fact I can quote that you won't decide is "fake" or "wrong". There's no low to which you are not prepared to stoop - no lie that's too blatant for you to tell. There's no hope for you, so please, enjoy your bizarre upside-down universe, where black is white, and where right is wrong.

Just because it hurts your feelings doesn't mean it's against the law. Just like all those Brexiters told me all through 2016, 17, 18...

Pray tell - what ancient constitutional principles have been violated?

Breaking the law and defying Parliament... in the name of empowering our Parliament and making our own laws? Sure, that makes total sense. [sarcasm]
