@fasteddiejs Replying to your own post is the surest way to get a constructive conversation going! ;) Childish jokes aside, I don't think we who oppose Brexit are legally required to give up our views just because we lost a vote. We're not breaking the law, or stopping it from happening. But we're not obligated to bleach out our brains and fall into line. That's not how democracy works. Our views count too, like it or not - and it's the job of the opposition to oppose government policy. If we aren't allowed to do that, then we aren't living in a democracy at all - we're living in a totalitarian state, like Russia.

I'm quite appalled by the questions being asked here. Why would you want to force Sir Keir Starmer to promise never to take us back into the EU? Brexit is at its heart, just a policy position. Like any policy, it will have supporters and detractors. Imagine censuring politicians for failing to get behind the consensus on funding sports teams for schools. It's insane that people even think this way, and shameful that a major broadcaster would normalise that strain of argument. The majority of people in this country don't want Brexit. The fact that we lost the election doesn't mean we're legally obligated to get our brains bleached and join hands to sing a hearty round of Leave Means Leave. A shoddy question from the interviewer, and Sir Keir Starmer was right to avoid answering it directly. Poor show.

@Land-of-reason Did you mean to post this on a different thread? You don't appear to be replying to any of the above comments.

I'm loathe to put myself in agreement with right-wingers (remembering the fiasco that was her interview of Jordan Peterson)... but yeah, I have to agree. She's too combative, too accusatory. A cleverer interviewer find ways to stick the knife in, without it seeming like a "gotcha!" - and they let the interviewee's idiocy speak for itself - rather than deliberately trying to puppet them into saying something stupid.

Yep, I can attest I've seen weird behaviour from more than a handful of those names, and I recognise most of them.

@jasondevon481 Yeeeeah, I study languages, and I see what MR was talking about. Your English is pretty damn good, but I doubt it's your first language.
