Reminder for all the angry men who are going to belt their way into this comment section to teach the darned no-good feminists their place - this is a prison - i.e. a place where your daily routine is entirely managed for you by a prison bureaucracy you have no control over and where, most critically, you are separated from everybody you know and love, for a period of time that you have no control over. Perhaps instead of arguing that all women should have it as rough as the worst-treated men, real mens-rights advocates should be fighting to improve conditions across the board in Britain's prison system, and addressing the root causes for why men are disproportionately more likely to commit crimes in the first place (drugs abuse, poverty etc.) - just a thought. :)

Ah yes, let's set an arbitrarily high threshold for how many people must be affected by a problem before we're allowed to discuss it. And if any actual women should be so impertinent as to start discussing how to improve their lives without our consent then we'll just call them leftist extremists. That always shuts them up. No. There's no false equivalency. You're engaging in what's known as "whataboutery", where you attempt to use the existence of larger problems in the world to shut down discussion of smaller ones - and I'm calling you out for it. @thepolticalone961 As I have said before and will say again, reform of the larger prison system is a worthwhile discussion - it's just not the one that Channel 4 is talking about with this video.

@thepolticalone961 And as I think you'd have ascertained, if you'd actually done me the courtesy of reading a single one of my comments, I don't disagree with you that reforming the entire prison system would be a good idea. I do disagree with your idea that this position is incompatible with Channel 4's video. My objection is that people like you are always swift to show up whenever women's issues are being discussed, to thrust your violated sense of equality. "But what about the men?!" The tacit assumption seems to be that every penny spent making a woman's life better ought to have gone to a man instead - no matter the context. Bottom line: there's nothing wrong with wanting to make life better for male prisoners too, but that wasn't the subject of the video.

I have read what you've written, and it's increasingly clear that you're following the same exact script that other faux-middle-grounders use. By its nature, this is a women's prison. These people aren't in a position to fix the prison system as a whole. All they can do is set an example and make the lives of their inmates better, leading them to a lower rate of recidivism. That somewhere else, men have it worse, is neither here nor there - either as far as this prison is concerned, or from the perspective of these journalists at Channel 4. The existence of segregated prisons means that inevitably, there are going to be differences in how the genders are treated, because perfect equality is impossible - but a policy which proves to work well in one context may eventually be applied in the other. So if you really care about the wellbeing of men, or just people in general, you should support projects like this one, because its existence strongly improves the likelihood that one day a men's prison will go the same route. @thepolticalone961

Actually, women and men attempt suicide at roughly the same rate. Men are just far more likely to succeed. @amigaamigo5307

You just pegged me for a feminist, and spun out the same spiel you do every time you think you've identified one. You didn't even to stop and check if my posts required sources (they did not - I never represented them as anything other than my opinion).
