  1. I don't trust Johnson, but I do also think that he's likely to end up writing the letter to seek an extension. (Disclaimer: I don't think we should count on it, mark you. We should continue to work under the assumption that he won't.) Why do I say this? Because there's no genius in Boris Johnson's skull. He's just an idiot who's been carried by the winds and the tides. Such a man does not make definitive decisions - he blusters and bumbles, threatens and rumbles, but ultimately, he caves in to the pressure. Boris Johnson has been keeping up a front of being the big boy who'd never back down - but he's a spineless coward, and when he sees the gun pointing his way, he'd far rather save his own skin, even if it can only buy him a few more minutes of panicked existence. I predict that Boris will sign the letter, and I predict he'll be out of office this time next month as a result.
