I think Pete combines some very important qualities that voters are looking for in this election (I am going to watch the video and see if our illustrious host will agree with me) x- Is a newcomer to mainstream politics x- Doesn't have any big controversies to his name x- Friendly to progressives x- Neither too young nor too old to serve He also has some big extra bonus factors which may help him win swing voters once past the Primary stage: x- Is a veteran x- Would be the first LGBT president x- Has a memorable name and style x- Is a genuinely nice guy Compare this to other major candidates. Elizabeth Warren has unfortunately become stained with scandal due to mishandling the Native American DNA business and Biden is struggling with his treatment of women - Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden are both rather long in the tooth, and voters may be worried about electing another elder-statesman to supreme office - Beto O'Rourke has burned his Progressive-friendly street cred with a pro-Conservative voting history. Now, don't get me wrong, if Pete loses and one of these other major candidates beats him, I think Democrats would be well-advised to vote for them anyway - unseating Trump HAS to be the name of the game if Americans are to have decent healthcare and an environment that's not simultaneously choked with pollution and trapped in a runaway greenhouse effect. But Pete seems to be the frontrunner because he's got the basics nailed down.

@Yanaschaf So, you basically didn't read my comment, and instead copy-pasted your stock reply to all Progressives you meet on the internet. This is not only extremely shallow, it's also ineffective.

Happily there's a lot else to like about Mayor Pete other than his sexuality.

Go on. If you're such a buffer for social / economic issues, perhaps you could elaborate on what exactly you think we should be talking about that we're not. @Yanaschaf
