I wish this was as significant as this sounds - but Theresa May is about to be ushered out of power, and is set to be replaced by somebody who can't get to licking Trump's boots fast enough. Boris Johnson is essentially our Trump tribute act, and he's counting on the US to help him steer through a crash-out Brexit. His whole negotiating position (if we can really call it that) is to claim that the US will help us out. Theresa May, all through her premiership, has been more than happy to sell herself out for Trump, and even invited him to a highly controversial state visit - something which literally nobody else in the UK was keen about. She was the first world leader to arrive on his doorstep and endorse him when he entered office, and she even decided to turn a blind eye when Trump gave his stamp of approval to Boris Johnson for PM while Theresa May was still in power. It's only now that she's on the way out that she appears to have rediscovered where her spine is located - but I think it's rather too little, much too late.
