  3. The level of engineering and details in this car is insane. The shift with the cuts, no crackle pop bang stuff, just pure high revving na v10 made to sing. Thank you so much because this car feels so forgotten sometimes but to me, this has the perfect amount of engineers pushed so far, and man those shifts, omg.

  9. Feels so strange, a car from my land, soo far and being enjoyed and reviewed so nicelly thanks to you. My dad had one, the neighbors bought multiple BXs, I grew up with a red LNA (the same body as the Peugeot 104 but with the flat twin). Renault 4L etc etc, thats what we used to see in our streets. Not so much these days but when you do see one, it's like going back to my childhood. As always, thanks Tedward !

  10. Ahah so nice, French dude tip on a 2cv, if the little retainers for the flap window are worn, watch your fingers when closing the door. It's the automatic closing window (on your fingers) feature. That engine noise is so unique, lots of memories from childhood

  11. I had a great battle against not one but 2 of those last summer on a racetrack with my 325is e30. I had to use all the tricks and fight hard to gain time on the guys with their little rockets. Super fun times. Tires and pads were hurt a bit 😁

  12. Omg this is why I love your channel so much, the diversity of content. Ultra rare Italian cars, supercars, EVs, Unimog, van etc. The color combination is so beautiful! One detail that wouldn't surprise me is, white could show those beautiful lines under less light rather than dark colors during an auto show (only my guess) but this cat being the very car from the show feels special. I mean it survived until 2021. This is why I like cars, for their history too, it's like a piece of history. Thanks for sharing as always!

  13. My Alfasud Sprint has the fuel jet sign too for the choke, rather than the more conventionnal butterfly symbol we're used too. And the ignition barrel is on the left of the column, so you have to turn the key towards you. I love those details

  14. Owww man I've waited this video for sooooo long. The 997.1 has "that" little something that makes it age very well. It might not rev to 9k but I wouldn't care one bit. It looks fabulous, it sounds incredible, it represents the 2000's so well I dont know I'm kind of speechless. I thought I couldn't afford a M3 in the past and then made it, hopefully I'll acheive it with that car one day 🤞

  15. I think the Rapide is underrated. The sound, the styling and everything. I don't know but the fact that it has the older 6 speed auto, the shifts are there, it's not shifting 12 times with 200rpm drop between gears, somehow it make the v12 sing on a large band which is even better. I start to appreciate these big luxury sedans, must be aging, but man, spending some time in it, torque converter smoothing the load and shock in the drivetrain, can't beat that buttery feeling :D Thanks for sharing ;)

  18. Thanks for the review as usual Tedward ! Thing is (no news there), those new cars are being developped to be at optimal performance with an automatic trans (torque converter / dct / etc. ). It's great because manuals still exists and I do love my manuals, but somehow they feel and show that they are not being developped quite as much, which is obvious because it's time and money consuming for the manufacturer. And it's not as easy today slapping a good old manual in because of all the software that's involved (porsche gt product aside, I presume). The new shifter feels a bit too rubbery for my liking, but at least for every day you are not feeling everything coming from the old zf s5 trans. The sweet spot was the e39 to me. I had the opportunity to drive the F30 and G20 back to back and I felt lost I have to say. I understand the position they are defending (attracting new customer and so on). I really felt the evolution from one generation to another till the f30, but the g20, couldn't feel home (and the quality perception felt down to me). Anyway enough talking from me ^^

  19. Man, I finally got a chance to get in an Atom 3 this summer on a small french race track. It was amazing, so .... ufo, not seen or felt ever before. That whine felt like it wanted to suck the helmet, hairs and shirt through the scoop. The braking was stupid strong without aero, I don't know it felt so wrong to be in that "thing", but so glad this exist.

Omg the sound of this engine, I remember when they released it after the 997.2 which was already a symphony (and to be honest didn't think they would go even higher with all the headaches associated to it), those last revs, it gives me chills, if I was owning one of these, I think I would also have chills but thinking about the valvetrain and the forces in the bottom end ahaha. Thanks again, one day I will show this to my grand children and watch their reactions :D :D

  22. This my favorite era with Mercedes Benz. I really like the design of the W114/5, although I'm not used to see it with the big bumpers. I think it looks nicer than the w123 that followed (I saw 2 coupes this afternoon, 123 and 124 chassis). I'm gonna check a C124 tomorrow but don't know the engine yet, might be an in-line 6 I hope!

  23. Wow so much memory, I remember travelling to Asia when I was a kid, 90"s Nissans, Toyotas, Hondas etc, and in a never ending traffic jam, a dark grey (or black ?) Evo 1, with the Evolution badge in red. The 4G63, not the best sounding engine, but the power delivery, and the chassis, one day man, one day, I'll get one :D

Nostalgia moment, remember the old days when a powerful black barge was starting in a super long gear, tried to light up the rear tires but that bright yellow /!\ was on till 2 gears later and the needle was far right on the speedo bullet train style?

  25. Believe it or not, after a hard day at work (and of course a crappy one), watching this video really felt like a therapy, it made me calm down. I was too tired to go for a drive myself (and the tuned e28 does not really call for a relaxed drive either aha), I really enjoyed the rainy mood torque wave of that v12. The speedo is wild, thinking that everything goes throught the rear wheels only.

  26. I was working for the brand when they released the f25 chassis. It felt like a huuuuuge improvement compared to the e83, which always have been terrible anyway. As for the run flat, it might save the joints and the suspension elements a little bit, and the nice M wheels, I remember at least half of the cars had flat spots, bent or cracked rims with those tyres.

  28. My favorite Era with Honda/Acura. When there was not too much technology and the gimmicks were cool as hell! My Prelude 3G had the alb light. The pump wasn't generating pressure I think. This is the car I regret the most, a cheap Honda, with 4 wheels steering, superb chassis and suspensions. This legend is really cool, clean, and with regular maintenance, will last until there is no fuel on earth

  29. Ow yeah ! Unimog time, and with the inline 6, new ones are 4 bangers only I believe. This trans was a bit weird indeed, nowdays the automated manuals in trucks are way better, even the Volvo trucks dual clutch doesn't makes a lot of sense because it skips gears and you don't always benefit from the smooth shifting with the double clutches. Anyway this Unimog is very capable, and will go just about anywhere

  30. As a european, I wouldn't say that we don't like to re-import japanese euro cars, but depending on the country, it can be quite a process to register the car. Even though most of them are lhd, they have to comply for rhd driving, the headlights for example. So when you re-import the car and ask to the manufacturer for a COC (Certificate of Conformity) that's used all across EU, you are gonna get a partial conformity and the document will highlight everything that doesn't comply with EU certification for that car. Then if you can make the car comply with the euro regulations (that's when picking up a brand a model with available spares or that can be borrowed at least makes your life easier), you'll get a fully compliant COC and then register the car, or that's going to be a isolated registration that can be a huge pain, again depending on the country and the year of the car.

I really like the G wagen, especially in the 2000's period we're they felt old and still updated here and there, but man, clunk that door and it felt so solid.   32. A friend of mine had one of these, it felt modern and more spacious with the bubble windshield. It had rock hard Konis, we crossed railways and saw something flew off from the front of the car. Looked like one of the headlamp chrome ring but it was lost anyway. When we arrived we checked the car, and the headlamp was off the bowl, just holding from the wires ready to fall on the road 😂👍. I'll always remember that one

  33. Those Zf 8hp trans are really good in premium sedans. My first test drive was in a 520d f10 (yeah what a brutal engine ..) but the transmission was so good, the shifts were like it was reading my minds. Smooth, reactive at the same time, not lost between 2 gears. They really pushed the limits of what an auto can do. And matched with a nice engine like in this Ghibli, rwd plateform so it feels more natural rotating and pushing. It's quite a killer daily driver !

  34. Fwd will behave differently but it's a great learning experience too. On the other half it's true that rwd will give that low speed sideways satisfaction we're looking immediately. We even tried in a vw bug, there was a lot of understeer aha

  36. It's funny how this zf 4hp behaves exactly like my e28 did (or is it because it shares the same box ..). It works very well with torquey engines, it's quite smooth I liked it a lot around town. This Range is very well preserved, perfect time capsule !

  39. Some might say the interior feels a bit dated for a 2018 car, but I don't know I like that more classical feel. It's not cutting edge technology like an a8 or else but I wouldn't want more from this. I like that that sweet v8 and gear changes like not effort. Give it a brighter interior and a deep blue, where do I sign (if only ahah) happy new Tedward as always thanks to you for sharing!

  40.  @Toxic2T  patina doesn't necessarily mean arlequin or torn surfaces, rust holes and so on, there is a fine line between patina and too far gone. An un restored classic car if being in good shape after decades will be worth more than a restored one even with hundreds of hours on the body

  41. Omg the sound ! Coupled to the break when shifting it's a dream ! I do think about my S50B30 in 10w60 too when cold starting it, but I don't know, the warmup part, everything feels stiff, the white condensation out of the exhaust etc, I like that part, especially going to work in the early morning, it's like a warmup for me too, no radio, just my car and myself in another world

  42. This is the best / last true 5 series with outstanding quality put from factory. I was working for the brand when they switched to the e60 and then the f10. The e39 always had that quality over the rest. My 530d has 155.000mi (250.000kms ish), when there is no traffic, at 55mph on the cruise, I get 45mpg. Yes it's a diesel but the best daily I ever had. I've always loved the carbon schwartz (black) in the sunlight, that deep blue, man it's so beautiful. E39 m5 is a keeper for sure! Not a rocketship, but only bmw knew how to make dual personalities cars 20 years ago 👌

One of those days you want quiet, or after a long trip with the old timer that broke your back, gave you carbon monoxide headaches and ears ringing ahaha

  44. I drove one a lot when I was working for Bmw, when the winter or summer was coming, moving all the customers wheels around from shop to shop. It's like a car, very easy to handle. The Renault Master I'm doing right now at work (fwd electric), it's not that good, still feels like a big work van, and the turning radius is terrible with the front cv axles.

  45. When I was starting at a BMW dealer, we had a used DB7 coupe in the lot. I really liked that car, with the name of the first owner on the door sills. The fact that the Aston and my Escort Ghia convertible had the same key and door locks made me laugh and made my first car even more special to me. It's also how I learned how to drive without 2nd gear synchro and never done anything about it. Heel and toe and double clutching, it never crunched👌

To be honest, I haven't driven last generation pdk or dsg (I've been passenger but not the same), but I really like the zf 8hp, depends on the calibration the car and usage of course, but that cushioning of the torque converter feels superior (which feels more appropriate in a heavier / bigger car). I do like the color more than the Macan too 👍

  48. My euro m3 e36 3.0 sedan. I bought it last year, by today standards it's not fast anymore, but back in 1995, it was a rocket ! Mine has around 100.000mi (167.000kms here in Europe). It is one of the 35 hellrot says internet, and funny fact, in my area, my buddy who sells spare parts at the Bmw dealer I used to work at, he sold parts to another M3 which is litteraly the car before mine, I have the chassis number 661, and the number 660 is Avusblau. Crazy how nearly 30 years after, 2 cars (of less than a thousand made) that were built one after another end up in the same city.

Honestly what I like with that kind of cars, even if you want to be agressive because you had a rough day let's say, there is that gentle British butler voice over your shoulder that may suggest sir that this beautifully handcrafted vehicle might reward you better with softer and gentler inputs on the commands. In the end, instead of tightening a 4 points harness as tight as you can so you can brake the latest, you leave some slack, sit comfortably, and enjoy the monster torque and creamy feel embraced with leather and wood. I even drive slower sometimes, just for the extra minutes of experience ahah
