In other words, don't give the devil a seat at the table when it comes to decision making, because he will always try to trick you into committing some sort of destructive behavior. That doesn't mean that you should pretend as if the devil doesn't exist, because if that were the case the command would be paradoxical, since by giving the order to basically not acknowledge the devil in any way, you have to acknowledge the devil. We have to acknowledge the devil as he is, a deceiver and a traitor, and he's very real.
