@EglomHistory I respect that you grew up around farmers, but if so I’d hope you would recognise firsthand that a lot of more complex land management techniques are largely just not done nowadays. Sure you work and fertilise the soil, but the entire general practices take out more nutrients than the soil is recovering, reducing the water-holding capacity in the soil, and many knock-on factors. That’s also a contributing factor in the rise of megacorp farms, the increased cost of supplying all the fertiliser, water, etc. The question of profitability does not inherently think long-enough term to preserve the biospheres inside our soils.

@David_Journey when will the underground water run out in Central Europe? Never, given the rain and snow, so long as we don’t cover up the permeable land.

@David_Journey I’m aware of the challenge in desert climates, see also parts of south-east asia. But in a climate with regular snowfall and porous ground you don’t need to worry so long as the snowfall continues. Obviously if we destroy the entire biosphere then everything we’ve set up is screwed whether it’s groundwater or just reservoirs anyway.

@wclifton968gameplaystutorials fake news, the majority of the outed generation was regular gas-fuelled steam-turbine generation. It’s hilarious you think the issue is the snow covered solar panels, even though most of Texas’ renewables are wind. Not to mention, if you’d looked into it at all, you’d see solar panels actually melt way quicker than their surroundings, a roof with solar panels that gets snow has the solar panels visible again after a few hours. Also, the fact you seem to think switching to renewables doesn’t include resiliency plans or extra capacity. Or that you don’t know Texas is only 10% renewable.

@naddarr1 that’s true, but I don’t live there, hopefully your last “you” is more of a generic you aimed at LA than me lol

I’ve never seen a water tower in the UK. What do we do? Just hide them?
