It has nothing to do with the US as a partner. German culture is dictated by geography just as Russia and China are. What you think Japanese a British culture is built around maritime by accident?

Germany will fail economically but that does not change the fact German can enter war. The same applies to china. There are still a few million men in German that could wreck havoc on Europe. Before WW2 Germany was an economic mess that still laid ruin to Europe. Do not confuse economics with war. Rome was still able to wage war even as it was in decline.

There is no contradiction only people’s ignorance on this topic. Germany will fail economically and still be able wage war. Just as Russia is doing today.

@flyveto457 Of course it helps Russia is failing and still able to wage war. Germany was a failed economy post WW1 yet was able to start WW2. Do not under estimate Germans ability to revive its economy and focus all that manufacturing on war.

@y0k0z00na You disagree because you do not understand the cultural geography of Europe. Once Germany builds those capabilities they just do not magically go away and history has shown that some dominant hierarchy 😮will rise in the German cultural world that uses those infrastructure in some fashion. Before WW1 nobody believed that Europe would end in such a war.

@tompumpernickel You are underestimating the traits of German culture. Every culture has their own unique traits that have been shaped by geography. Germany could turn its military into a very serious force in just five years if there is a single agenda at play. Look at how quickly German political sentiment changed with the invasion of Ukraine. Once Ge4many builds the infrastructure it will not just disappear and all it takes is for a new hierarchy to rise and that powerful collective German spirit is not looking so weak anymore. Do not underestimate the forces at play.

@mam0lechinookclan607 Germany can be very weak economically and still wage war. German post WW2 was an economic failure that was able to build a massive industrial war machine. Germany is going to have massive industrial spare output with no market to trade the goods with so we’re do you think they will put all of that?

⁠⁠ @cathjj840 Grain of truth? German culture as been involved in over 100 major wars. In the 19th century German culture fought in over 20 major European conflicts. There is a reason for all of this and it is rooted in geography. Germany like Russia has no real geographic boundaries that can be defended so when a European war starts they always get sucked in. Peter has been warning about Germany performing independent operations out side of other organisations.

No and the 1930s was not the same as 1860s. The conditions that exist today are different from the 1920s to 1930s but there is one thing that has not changed and that is the geography and collective culture of German which existed 2000 years ago when they were invaded by the Romans.

It is not the first time that the Dutch and Germans had close relations but it always ends in tears.

@charlyvanbuuren2947 Post WW 1 the German Emperor was based in the Netherlands and both countries had good relations because they did not fight in WW1 but that did not stop the German invasion of the Netherlands. Just after the Napoleonic wars both German and Dutch cultures were bitter rivals but by the end of 19th century every thing was friendly hence why there was no period of conflict between the two nations.

No that is not the case with Germany. There is a reason why Germany has such large industrial outputs but very few natural resources. Germany is a collective culture and would not exist without that. If German was able to just put a very small fraction of its industrial output to military production it would in a very short period have a massive infrastructure. German military culture has always been competent and simple which allows its tactics to spread very quickly through out its collective culture.

@lofthousehh The conditions for WW2 were decades in the making but culminated in a 6 year period of war. What we have now going forward is more akin to the pre WW1 period. People lack any type of awareness when it comes to geography and culture due to most emphasis being on economics and culture. Germany has been in over 100 wars and there is a reason as to why that has occurred.

@And.r.ew.90 The US has had very few border wars even though it could easily take regions from Canada and Mexico but chooses not to do so. My point is not that German will go to war because it has manufacturing but rather that Germany is not as weak as many imagine.

That is not exactly true. Both regions historically have showed aggressive manoeuvres that normal come about from other circumstances.

It is not extreme at all. Nobody before WW1 believed that there would be a major conflict. Even today it is not that easily understood why it happened. WW2 is easy to understand WW1 not so much.

@mam0lechinookclan607 Think about it Germany can have no economic future due to stability issues with no replacement generation but that does not mean two million German men backed by a collective industrial culture cannot wage war or be in large conflicts. So to recap German economy is unstable industry produces weapons of war.

Both Japan and Germany have amazingly powerful collective cultures that enable them to rise,fall and rise again in a matter of decades. You can have much smaller cultures/countries than Japan that have nowhere near their level of cohesion.

You are mistaken if you believe German culture cannot carry out such a transformation. Germany has a failing economic culture because if it replacement birth rate but do not confuse that with the ability to wage war. Germany has several million men capable of waging war and Germany has a massive industrial output that could create all manner of military assets. People underestimate German capacity because they do not understand German geographic culture that is collective in nature. If Germany decided today that it wanted to have a million man army that was armed to the teeth it could achieve that in five years. Where do you think all that German spare productive capacity is going to end up?

No even close to being true. German can very easily perform operations within NATO and EU if it desires but chose independent operations. Most do not understand the trends at play.

Once German culture builds its military infrastructure it does not just go away. German culture always looks docile because it tends not to do rash things but moves slowly. So what will Poland do if German puts just 5% of its industrial might towards defences?
