Hey guys. If you have any thoughts or questions on the "shorts" format/situation, feel free to reply to this comment. Here's a few quick notes for things you guys might be wondering about:
The humour/style is different. - While I certainly don't have any degree of professional standard to uphold myself, Thrillist needs to make sure the content is appropriate for their site, so I'm working with the input of a few others to try to make that balance. I had a bit of a conversation with them about making content that is more congruent to my own and I think it's only going to get better in that regard (I think the next video is moving in that direction!)
Why are you sharing them here? - I thought that, while it's not my usual style, I hoped that others might still enjoy them more than not. I worry a lot that most people strongly dislike content made for a third party, so I put the "short" tag in so that you don't have to watch it in the future if you don't want to. If you guys really don't think it's a good idea, or don't enjoy the videos, I'm not in an endorsement agreement with Thrillist or anything, so I I don't have to include these ones on the channel anymore.
Why are they "shorts"? -They're all supposed to be ~1 minute long!
How many are you making? - I will be doing one a month until December.
Will this impact your regular videos? - Hopefully no. I of course can't say for sure, but In my mind I would either be making 2 regular videos a month, or two regular videos a month + 1 short (by putting in some more time), so I'm trying the latter. I've made two videos with Thrillist and neither has impacted my progress with other videos thus far. As I was making short#2, I also made the Intelligence Spectrum video, which I feel is one of my best videos, and I actually spent more time on that than any other video I've ever done.
