Sounds like a grift - kickbacks for the companies the Qataris. I hope that backfires on Erdgoan big time. And jailing former military for voicing concerns about problems with Russia and neutrality ?? Really - that is a tyrannical government that does not even pretend, If get that they go after the little guys but he does not even shy away from crushing fmr military brass. IF the project was reasonable, the population can be convinced.

@inmymind360 Speaking of smartass - you mean he did not know that he was in Algeria ! He made some severe mistakes (coupled with some good survival decisions and he had the stamina). Saving his urin in the early stage was a good idea. Killing those bats, which btw means that there must have been an oasis somewhere. Bats might fly a while, but they need insects and water. But it took him a while to even realize that he was lost, and running during a sandstorm was pure lunacy. OF COURSE he got lost. - that man prepared intensely for the race and at the same time did not use the compass (and if he did - those do not always work, knowing that is part of the preparation, iron and other magntic rock deposits can mess with a compass although the dangerous areas for that are known. The organizers were idiots for giving out measly flares. Sandstorms are pretty normal and there could be medial emergencies at any time. He did not know the terrain, but felt confident to run with little visibility anyway. A bedouine or Tuareg would not wander around during a sandstorm, they shelter in place.

There are areas where iron deposits mess with compasses. And he made some very stupid decisions. Also some good ones and he had the stamina. Running in a sandstorm was the worst decision, also for health reasons. of course he would get lost. and he should have worked on those SOS much sooner.

10:32 annual Arctic seal ice level minimums. Wow ! Not good ! It really started to go down in the late 1990s - and then we also had some expectionally hot years. One of them used to be in the list of the 20 hottest ever recoreded years.

That is highly interesting, the video title does not do it justice
