  26. No it is not the same. AT ALL ! The man w/o insurance is not a danger to others. Not being insured is not contagious - him NOT being insured does not cause others to have accidents or losing insurance coverage. The costs of insurance can be a major burden in the U.S. the vaccine is free, given to millions (it is safe !) and it only takes 2 or 1 appointments. No monthly high payments. His lack of insurance also does not mean more cases or more costs (treating that man "costs" the same, whether he has insurance coverage or not).  Injured (or obese or addicted) persons do not bring the hospitals to breaking point. Indiana and Alaska operate under emergency care now. A person that would need an ICU bed after an accident will not get their fighting chance if they are in bad shape - because all the ICU capacities are filled up with anti vaxxers that could have easily ! avoided to be there. Traffic accidents are a reality of our life and they do not bring hospitals down. There is no simple measure we can take in advance and then we are good. Sure, seat belts, no drunk driving, no speeding etc. ... but that has to be followed ALL the time. No mistakes. With the vaccins: 2 appointments and you are good. And normal caution (not speeding, helmet) does not eliminate all risks and as humans live their life they make mistakes. Think driving during rain, or it is icy on a bridge, or you are inattentive for a moment. Getting the 1 or 2 shots is very easy, planable, and gives comprehensive coverage, no matter what happens later ... even if you then make a mistake like touching your face, going to a larger event, not wearing a mask, forgetting to wash hands - you will be good. At worst it will be a harmless infection. In that example it would be: The young man only has to go and sign up and it does not cost him anything to get full coverage.
