Sweden has about the same number of inhabitants they for sure would also gladly take the subsidies and the "discarded" military equipment that Israel gets for free.

Israel profited from soviet brain drain, they had a mass immigration of usually well educated Soviet Jewish citizens in the 1990s (squeezing the Palestinians further, that's another story).. The Soviets had a reputation in training technicians and engineers. Now they were held back under the Stalinistic form of State capitalism. Still the educational base was excellent (Russians are also very much into culture, and the Jewish people in general are said to have an affinity to white collar professions and higher education). Today 2 million people live in Israel (total 10 million maybe) who speak Russian (immigrants and their children). Of course that jumpstarted start-ups. I also heard that Israel has the hightest rate of college graduates - also because ot that mass immigration.

The U.S. GDP includes the ESTIMATED contribution of the "financial sector". Unlike the GDP of the Nordic states who are acutally PRODUCTIVE. The calculation of the contribution of other sectors to the GDP is self-evident - only for the "contribution" of finance (a huge part stems from speculation) a number has to be made up. (See Prof. Werner brilliantly explains how the banking system and financial sector really work youtube(dot)com/watch?v=EC0G7pY4wRE while I am at it I can also recommend Richard Werner: Debt Free & Interest Free Money youtube(dot)com/watch?v=zIkk7AfYymg short video highly informative) In the 1980s neoliberalism took over. In the U.S. and U.K. "financialization" instead of manufacturing became all the rage. That would of course have resulted in a drop of GDP so they had to get creative. I have no doubt that the citizens of Norway and Denmark are wealthier on average than the citizens of the U.S. Likely also Sweden.

The costs of the goods are not relevant - they also have HIGHER WAGES. - I think they have less very rich and upper class people in Sweden. And much, much less homeless and low income people.
