  8. Good news for Labour: from a BBC article. More than 3.1m people have applied to register to vote since MPs agreed to an election at the end of October. About two-thirds of those who have registered since the end of October are under the age of 35, and more than a million are under 25. The establishment seems to feel it too - they have gone in overdrive regarding the anti-semitism claims. Corbyn should have said F U long ago, he could have learned from Johnson and Trump in that regard. if you give them the middle finger there is not much more that they can accuse you of. The FU is to refuse the play that game at the conditions of the bad faith actors, to not play at all. They would of course do the handwringing, and the shrill accusations but only in their echo chamber - but not more than now and Labour would not even play. The well intentioned folks would know what to think and the other ones are not going to vote Labour anyway. For minorities to be safe the country and the economy should do well, in times of prolonged economic downturn the uglies come out and get vocal - or they even act in real life. so it does not matter if some Jewish voters would abandon Labour if they are sensitive due to a family history and mistakenly take the claims of the witch hunt accusers seriously. In the end what matters is that they - and all other minorities - are safe. anti-semitism has nothing to do with Labour, people holding those beliefs are spread out over all the population. Of all minorities Jewish people trigger the least prejudice. Muslims or peole of colour are much worse off - but their woes do not dominate the headlines. There are loyal Jewish acitvists in the party who often also fair point of view regarding Palestine. Jewish people are a minority in the U.K. they do not change the outcome of elections. (And many affluent vote Tory anyway). And the elites that clutch their pearls misinterpret the mood in the population, no one cares. People are self-centerd and have enough trouble in their life. They also know that there is no progrom against Jews going on, you would think this is Germany 1932 from the drama in the media. But the Tories, the elites and the "Friends of Israel" in both parties who usually are also neoliberals and war supporters have been using that as stick to beat Corbyn with. They can't debate him on the issues. A member of the Israel lobby was filmed by Al Jazeera discussing to take out a deputy minister (of the Tories) by manufacturing a scandal. Labour MPs were present during that discussion. (see The Lobby it is on youtube. After the U.S. the Israeli lobby is likely the strongest in the U.K. - if Corbyn becomes PM and Sanders president they will really start to scratch their head). They have a "winner takes all per district" system. Labour did very well in the last election with YOUNG voters. That they all scrambled to register (either first registration which is not automatic like in most other countries or the registration if people move. Students can be registered to vote in two places and choose where they vote (at least it was like that in 2017). Which was used very strategically and they won a district they had never won before with the help of the students of the local university. Now there are other parties out there that in theory could appeal to young voters - the Liberal Dems which are the pro EU party, but I think they are not doing well - and since it is "first past the post" young voters will think twice. if they split the vote in a district that could help the Tories.
