  1. Journalists were kept from the appartment that was allegedly the object of the corruption. (Lula did not buy it anyway if I remember correctly. The seller offered it at a slightly better price for the PR to house the former ! president (the potential transaction was after Lula had left office). The prosecution and the judge (which acted as prosecutor and ally of the political enemy) did not bother to prove what benefits the seller would have gotten from Lula in exchange for the reduced price.. The ONLY witness was a man that was in legal trouble or already in prison. The testimony against Lula was his get out of jail card. There was no other "evidence". allegedly the corruption would have included an escalator built in to suit Lula. Well, that escalator never was installed. Anyway the journalists could not visit or make photos of the site - it was a working class environment and the house and appartment was fine but nothing fancy. It should be added that most of the media in Brazil is solidly right wing and aligned with the interests of wealthy / rich people. The government (after the silent coup to oust Dilmaz under a pretext) did not want pictures published of how modest the alleged object of corruption was - it would have rendered the accusations somewhat absurd.
