  1.  @1369Stiles  If you live in a safely red OR blue state why didn't you vote for another party / candidate ? (Green party for instance). I mean this time GA and TX and AZ had to be treated as swing states (just in case), so if getting rid of Trump had priority you could not risk anything as voter there. And indeed 2 of the 3 states were flipped, but there are plenty of other states where the general vote for the outsiders could do some good (morale for the greens, federal funding, and the Corporate Dems hate it when the sheeple do not fall in line. In 1992 Ross Perot got almost 19 % of the popular vote. Allegedly he did not cost Bush the election. (maybe the discussion about NAFTA hurt him, but not directly in the cast votes). So the Republican voters had strategic voting figured out in 1992, but the Democratic base does not dare to stray. (they only got 0,2 % of the vote. the fear mongering and hysteria after 2016 seems to have worked). Now - since the results are not spectacular (as per Sunday Biden won four battleground states with a margin of less than 79,000 votes (in total). Michigan and NV are solid. But AZ, WI, PA and GA were won with 10 - 30,000 votes margin (counting so far). Trump had a comparable situation in 2016, he won 3 states with a total of only 70,000 votes. Like Biden now he NEEDED those states to win. In other words, Biden could have lost that election. A LOT of the popular vote advantage comes from CA, NY and WA. In that situation it does not hurt that Biden has also 4 million votes more than Trump even if a lot come from the big blue states, I assume even some Republicans will try to convince Trump to accept defeat. (Remember how miffed Trump was about the 3 million gap in 2016 ?).

  2. The grassroots ways to organize do not funnel the high budgets to the grifters and the consultant class. The industrial election complex is also a way to bribe coporate media AND to funnel money to party loyalists or former politicians (the big fish land on board of corporate media, but a low profile politician leaves Congress or is voted out and they had 2 - 3 seasons they can hope that they will be taken care of. If they were always obedient, the party leadership can / will get them a gig. That is part of the leverage the party hierarchy has over the politicians. That is why Corporate Dems still pay a LOT for TV ads, never mind what would be more effective. Likeswise: the Latino outreach of Chuck Rocha for the Sanders campaign employed local people FROM the community to organize turnout, door knocking. That went really well (also in TX where Sanders peformed very well with Latinos, not only in Nevada). It works - and no one had tried that approach before. No one had invested into the communities to quote Rocha. Why ? Because the money goes to lower level employees, not the consultant class or party loyalists. Rank and file is getting paid (relatively modest PER person, no one rakes in the millions. Paid staff leverages the work time and efforts of the unpaid volunteers. Either way - not one makes a cut from these efforts. And of course these people cannot funnel back a cut from their earnings. A politician that has employed big consultant companies and has funneled a LOT of donations to them over the course of time, can expect to get some help if they need it after leaving office. Family members will get jobs, maybe they can offer lucrative real estate deals for flipping houses (via 3 corners so it is not illegal). They scratch each other's back. So the very common sense approach to work WITH the local community was not used because that is ONLY about getting out the vote and not to enable the grift. The state party of Wisconsin had begged the HRC campaign in 2016 the give them some money for local outreach. HRC had raised 1 billion USD - but they could not find the money for Wisconsin. Of course not - the beltway insiders ONLY used the conventionly (lucrative) tactis. They are also getting paid if their campaing LOSES the election. The money went to the big players and profiteers, not to state orgs or locals that would have worked on the ground. Lower level shills often get their golden parchute from that companies that work in consulting or by media companies. See Clair McCaskill. She does not have the job on national TV because she is such a presence on TV. But she was a good Republican with a D to her name, and she was useful. Even if she lost, she also made sure that no progressive would win the primaries. That is all she ever was supposed to accomplish and she is rewarded for it. Likely she makes not better money that she did when she got 170,000 k as Senator. (and she gets a pension anyway, and they keep their healthcare). AOC got her viral ad from 2018 for 10,000 USD production costs. 1 or 2 people from ? Detroit directed and recorded it. She / her team organizd the extras and locations and she wrote the copy. They contacted her (they are associated with DSA) and 2 weeks later it was made. (I guess they were lucky that they had nice weather for the shoots outside. - But of course an upstart earned a living and no one made a cut. And she spread her ad with the help of independent media. And if they pushed it a little with paying for advertising, these were modest costs. The spreading was done for free with the help of independent media AND the help of supporters.
