  1. Bernie's AGE is AN ADVANTAGE (if he stays healthy) - old age can make you reckless IN A GOOD SENSE. Young Obama clearly did not have the guts or did not want to miss out on the "after presidency rewards" (Also see Larry Wilkerson's very enlightening statement - next comment). - His age would be a reminder that not ONE person can be responsible for turning the country around, it needs a movement and a team effort (of the cabinet) + the grassroots. A strong cabinet, a well mentored VP, and enough stand-ins should do the trick - and grant the safety of the leader as well. What is the use of killing ONE leader when the direction will not change. The Civil Rights Movement deflated after MLK was assissinated. It is useful to have a leader to rally around. But: Due to his age Sanders would be more prone to mentor his replacements - which would ensure his safety, too. Being POTUS is the PEAK of a political career. Now, Jimmy Carter was the last president who was CONTENT with writing the occasional book to make money for his REAL charities (maybe he is wealthy because of the farm) So Carter had no need or inclination to pander to Big Biz to get the sweet deals later when he left the W.H. (Obama, the Clinton's, also the Bushes sure made some money off the war and fossil fuels, Cheney, Al Gore, Joe Biden, Howard Dean as well). a) Sanders has nothing to think about than his political passion (and it is a passion, not only some lines consultants made up for him) b) I think he is fine with being comfortably wealthy - THAT IS ENOUGH for him - so hopefully no selling out like Obama or the Clintons c) I think he is really worried about the world his grandkids will live in. He would therefore be free to surround himself with unorthodox advisors (Ralph Nader comes to mind - or people like him) - if you have good people around you that work FOR the citizens on their own, you do not need to know all, monitor them all the time, or do it all alone. He could mentor/promote the next populist kick-ass Potus after 4 years (Nina Turner for instance) - while seriously kick some behinds himself. I think he has some ambition - but not necessarily for financial gain - well his ego can be satisfied by becoming a beloved president. (that would have been the gig for Obama but he sold out for 30 pieces of silver and/or out of fear).

And you realize that if you start these fights, if you start these battles, not only might you be assassinated, you're probably going to leave without anything like the dignity, and the honor, and the emoluments, and the fortune that he left with.
