  1.  @miamidolphinsfan  Well, 50 % are outright corrupt and 45 somewhat compromised. Even Bernie and Jane have done some questionable things. That said: he would not sell out the country wholesale, and it was minor league stuff. - Jane got a job as president of a private college in Burlington. They had plans to invest and to attract international students, and bought a beautiful piece of land from the Catholic Church (they needed to sell, abuse settlements). She likely misrepresented the pledge of wealthy potential donors in order to get a loan from a credit union. And the church had a sales contrac that they would get the money eventually in several tranches. Well they did not get the full agreed upon price, the land later was auctioned. The revamping did not work, the financial crisis did not help to attract students. She may have been out of her league anyway. That idea was tried my many smaller colleges, but it works better for the large well known colleges. They did not get enough paying students, were in financial trouble, she stepped down but but got a 200k severance for the early termination of the contract. THAT was not O.K. - I like her - what I have seen - but she should not have extracted that money (additionally to a few years good pay). Considering that her performance was not stellar (or at least the outcomes were not). Managers do it all the time, failing away with a golden parachute - but that is no reason she had to do it. The Sanders family was doing will financially. Since he was 40 he had a good income as mayor for 8 years, 1 year campaign and a gig at an university, and from 1991 he was in D.C. Someone else took over as president of the struggling college, (which was good for Jane because the college going broke was separated a few years from her departure) but of course that was set up under her leadership. they finally had to give up. So that was not something you put proudly on your resume. Someone broke into the college (I seem to remember files were stolen). In the end the rich woman that allegedly made the pledge for future donations or an inheritance (Jane Sanders got a loan from a local credit union based on her claim about that pledge) likely would not expose them even if she was not pleased. She may not be alive anymore. They tried to do opo research on Sanders in the 1990s already and you bet in 2015. The college gig started before the financial crisis.. The people of Vermont, his former divorced wife, etc they will not talk. He must generally have been relatively uncorrupt, also as mayor, the people that know him are protective of him. That college gig of Jane come up in 2016, a Republican from Vermont even launched an investigation, the FBI was involved, but it lead nowhere. If the credit union had felt obliged to give them the loan, they would not say. if the church had reasons to give the land to the college headed by Jane, they did not expose them. They may have gotten a decent price with the auction. She seems to be very connected to the Church, so maybe that was friendship and the idea the beautiful piece of land should serve a public purpose. I can't imagine they would not have found a buyer that would pay them right away. IF sales price was the only consideration. maybe they did not want to sell to a real estate developer. I wonder if they have anything against them. (burglary College, stolen files ....)
