Make no mistake the Dem establishment would rater lose with a TTP candidate than have a FDR style type in the White House. Advantage: next time they can scare people even more with lesser evilism, when the next sellout Dem runs against an evern worse Republican. It is only the presidency - they will get it eventually again, 70 % of seats (Congress, Senate) are safely blue - and candidates that lose get a cushy job thanks to the Big Donors (and with help of party establishment) - of course only if they were always obedient. and the money keeps flowing. The Big Donors would have prefered Hillary - Trump is uncough, and erratic. But they do not mind war, excessive military spending. The increasing debt and deficit (for the military budgets and the tax cuts for the rich) is the pretext to cut welfare even more in the future. - And they like the tax cuts and Sanders would push to end them. Trump is not going to hurt the private for profit insurance companies. Sanders might.

If you come accross a Biden fan Just say friendly: "Delaware is a very important tax haven, Joe Biden has always been VERY supportive of Wallstreet, the banks, big biz in general. - And he takes Big Donor money and meets with those people - so nothing has changed *. Wallstreet LOVES for profit healthcare as we have now, and they love war (stocks). This is not what the country needs right now." You have not directly denigrated Biden, more importantly you have not attacked THEIR judgement. When they say that he must take the big money /all do it / can't bring a spoon the the knife fight: "Allegedly the polls are so good for Biden , so how come he does not just turn to the people for the money. They all work for their donors - the small donation campaigners for the regular people, the others OWE the big donors."

@spanztumblr The Democratic "leadership" and their Big donors would like to have Biden in the GE and they would not mind Trump winning (not that they would ever admit that) - as long as Sanders (or even Warren, or worse Gabbard) do not get into the White House).

Yes - but will Uncle Joe remember his lines ? One would think he had enough time to prepare them already, they dragged out the announcement long enough. He is not asked about any fringe issues - and does not even have those talking points down. It is hard to teach new tricks to an old dog. It pays off that Sanders developed his stances at the age of 20, 25 and from then on. And that HE developed them, based on reading, talking to people, thinking, .... Hardwired into the brain. Fuelled by convictions. That is not the same as getting your lines form the professional deceivers.

So De Blasio is meant to dilute the Sanders vote in New York ? Good thing that NY is at the end of the primaries. There is an element of getting exposure and raise the profile for some of the candiates (or selling the book). In De Blasios case it might be more to funnel Big Donor money to party loyalists (strategists, PR experts, .... ) former politicians that are rewarded with contracts for the Big donor friendly votes. Maybe jobs for friends and family.

There is a difference between: I am fine with Biden (when called on the phone) and getting out to vote in the primaries or participate in a caucus (which is time consuming).

because Biden is a Republican with a D - the black man with the Muslim name got a white establishment side-kick that had been around for a long time and was associated with Bil Clinton - that placated some voters and it espcially pleased the Big Donors.

Shored up the D vote for the Iraq war. Wrote the Crime Bill and did some grandstanding as law and order guy (called himself the grim reaper). Anita Hill hearing under his "leadership". Wrote the patriot act. Voted for all Wallstreet and bank deregulations (of course he represents the tax dodgers that have mail boxes in Delaware) and the trade deals. Wrote the bill that makes it almost impossible to discharge student loans in a bankrupcy (1,5 trillion USD open) Did I mention that he served Wallstreet and the banks faithfully - and they like war, and the stocks of oil companies, healthcare industry, the MIC. He never missed a chance to be on the side of Big Biz - and on the wrong side of history. The cherry on the top: a hint of racism and creepy behavior towards women and children - well girls when they pose for photos. It is not hate - it is what it would mean when he is nominated and loses - or when he is nominated an wins ! The VP is not that important and when the president is young and healthy does not get much attention. So he could cultivate the "persona" of the hands-on grandpa. - it was not that harmless - he was there to placate voters (the scary black man with the Muslim name had a white guy of the good ol' boy club at his side). And the Big Donors and the special interests knew Biden would promote their interests. Not that I think Obama needed encouragement, he was a neoliberal in his own right. But: Biden was the reinforcement - might have made sure that ACA was from the very beginning set up to be Big-donor--friendly.
